Epic Fail! - Cyberbeast - Tires shot at 6251 miles!!!

Yes First Tesla... and Uuughly disappointed at these factory tires.

I see evidence of hard acceleration. The ripping of the tread makes it clear you drive it hard, my truck has 15000 miles and the tires look great. Will try to measure later.

My CT has 14,000 miles on it and over 6,000 have been towing with a total weight for truck and trailer over 10,000 lbs. I went to have the tires rotated and Discount Tire and they measured the tread depth and I have only used 2/32' BUT the wear is exactly even on all 4 tires so no rotation needed.

Four things.
Chill Mode
Proper inflation
Use brakes ... never.
Gentle with Right foot!

sounds like you need to drive in CHILL mode from now on. You just can't be trusted with the BEAST. btw, is this your first Tesla?

You are spot on. That is from hard acceleration. Dont drive with a lead foot or will cost you.

At 6251 miles the H speed rated tire on the Cyberbeast is down to 5/32 and 4/32 with irregular degradation.

Got my Cyberbeast on June 25th. Truck has always been driven ONLY on streets and highways. Never taken off road. Never hit top speed of 132 mph. Yes did experience the beast mode and 0 to 60 in 2.6 a few times.
Yesterday I was going to go to get tires rotated as recommened in the manual at 6250. Truck is a t 6251 miles AND.... I noticed tread is low.

I measured it. 5/32 on rears and 4/32 on fronts. WOW! That's insane!

I did some research and the H speed rated tire has a sticker rubber. But for it to last just 6K to 7K miles on the Cybebeast has to be a manufacturing defect. These tires are specially made for the Cybebeast so for them to be this bad is unforgivable. I have an appointment on Oct 1st to discuss this with TESLA.

That’s definitely operator error and a heavy foot problem. Not a cyber beast problem. I have 7000 miles on my beast and it still has 9/32.

I'm wondering if having motors on each wheel, controlling the tire speed on turns, is causing a little slippage, and extra tire wear. One motor with a differential per axel may cause less slippage. Expensive $500+ Tesla CT tires all seem to wear out more than they should. Heavy semi truck tractors can get 400,000 miles on their tires. I don't believe the CT's weight is the cause. Jack rabbit starts certainly could cause extra tire wear, but CT Dude indicated he has only done that a few times. I've noticed changing ride height causes the tires to slip sideways. Today I had a small thumb tack like screw that was less than 5/8" long, cause a leak in my drivers side rear CT tire. Local tire company charged me $60 to repair the tiny leak caused by the screw!

I asked the Service Center about these tires and they said the composition is on the softer side. So like performance tires, they will wear out a little faster than something like a Michelin Defender. I now have 13k miles on my Beast after 17 months of ownership and the tires are definitely worn, but ok. I’m tracking towards needing. Ew ones around 20k miles. For softer tires, that’s about right.

If anyone has suggestions for a better tire, I’d like to hear about it.

This was from a semi-trucker I met at construction delayed stop on Hwy 60, west of Gunnison, Colorado. He seemed sincere. I believe most semi drivers put well over 100,000 miles per year on their trucks. They put much deeper highway tread tires on their trucks. I doubt they replace tires twice per year. 18 tires X $500/ tire = $9,000!

22,000 so far on my ATs on my Beast. I've done more launches than SPACEX. Could be the road makeup or how agressive you are in corners/curves. But, I'm at 7/32 and 8/32 across the tread patch. I let Tesla rotate them at about 20,000 miles because they wore so evenly but either the front or rear were 1/32 lower. I figured I'd get the one rotation at what seems like will be the mid-point of their life.

I would suspect that the 2nd half of their tread-life will last a lot longer than the first "Oh my god, this is so fast. Watch this!" half. I would predict my tires will last another year/22,000 miles longer for a total around 45,000 miles.

I suspect you do a lot of highway miles?

I do go into corners on the faster side. Not that the CT handles well since it’s a truck. And I don’t do many launches at all.

It's a mix of Highway and traffic. But, yes, most is highway between 40 and 65mph. Blacktop.

Just had mine measured at SC- awd on Pirelli scorpions- 5/32 rear, 7/32 front with 7300 miles. Havent been rotated yet but it’s time.

I have 41,000 on my ATs. Rotated them at 6,500, then at 40,000. I think a lot of people get unnecessary wear by doing hard scrubbing turns on rough surfaces while parking. I stopped using auto park because it did that so much.

7500 miles on AWD purchased in June. These are my tires. Didn’t get them rotated and regretting it now. Appointment in 2 days. Rear wore down much more than front. Not sure rear is salvageable at this point and may need to replace. Do a launch maybe once a week. Odd that they wore so quickly.
