I've recently installed a Gen 3 charger at my house on a 60 amp breaker, but have yet to add it to my account so it's capped at 40 amps. When. I plug it in, it'll charge at 40 amps for a random amount of time, then, the charge limit is set to 20 amps.

If I stop charging and restart it, it will stay at 40 for a while and then drop.

I've opened service mode, and don't see anything at all there. Is there a log somewhere I could uod find to see what's going on?

The top charger light blinks red after it happens.

Any ideas woukd be appreciated!

When it drops to 20 does the UI say
20/40, 20/20, or something else?

Do you have any 3rd party apps that impact charging?

No third party apps at all. I remember that the phone UI (Android) just shows 20 amps with no arrow to increase the charge level. I don't remember what the truck UI shows, but will look when I get home.

Thank you! I just hit 51k miles, so my fingers are crossed it's something easy!

It sounds like an issue with the Wall Connector. Does it do any interesting light patterns when this happens? It might have a loose connection causing overheating.

I plugged it in, and within an hour, the charging speed decreased. As I plugged in, the app (both truck and phone) show 40 amps.

When I saw it decreased, the app on the phone and truck both show 20 amp max rate. The Gen 3 charger has the top light blinking red three times.

I'm going to pull the wall charger off tomorrow to check it, but any other thoughts?

That's the error code for overheating.

Thank you! I'm going to check connections and add it to my wifi. I'll update when I'm done, but that sounds like the likely issue.

Thank you!

I had the same issue and found the connection of L1 not torqued correctly. Appears to be working fine now. Definitely an issue with the gen 3 charger not the truck.
