The service manager said the noise was from the drive unit. I probably said motor because I’m not technical. Still not sure what the difference is. 😝

I can’t post a video of the squealing because it’s at the shop. It’s any turn, not just full lock. Left and right. Both sides, sounds like just from the rear.
I think I had the same issue as you. Take a look at this post and the attached service report from the technician to see if that’s helpful:

That sounds very similar to mine. What is super frustrating is how unwilling the SC’s are to do the right thing. I had a clunking noise in my drivers seat that they couldn’t reproduce. I found a thread here about the same issue with the tech notes about how they fixed it. I shared the thread with them and they said they didn’t listen to the internet. I finally convinced them to look at it and they did the same fix as the other SC’s notes as a “courtesy” to me. What do you know? Fixed the issue. I don’t think we should have to beg for them to fix issues on a vehicle they know is far from perfect and has a lot of known issues.

No, that’s more of a whine. Mine is lower pitched. When I first heard it I thought it was the A/C blowing weird. But then I turned everything off and it was still there. Seems worst around 45mph or so, but I hear it all speeds. Also seems to get louder the longer I drive.

Update. After I messaged the SC yesterday, today they responded that the noise issues would have to wait for a separate service visit because the noises would have to be verified by a test drive. For crap sake! They were verified and ignored during the last visit and test drive! I told them I'm about to file a lemon law complaint since others have had similar issues and had them fixed and that I'm tired of dragging it in for endless service visits. I want to love this truck, but they are making it really difficult. Just fix the damn problems!

Mine is noisy in similar ways also… honestly…

when the trick is in motion the ‘squealch’ from the steering racks (front and rear) are reduced but still there.. it sounds horrendous then stationary and turning the wheels..

motor gear noise is there also..

almost 8k miles and ownership exactly a year on this day… no performance issues or failures this far.. (yes, my work commute is short…most of the miles came from camping trips)

You
So, I dropped off my truck at a Tesla service center today so they can address my leaking tonneau cover and was given a loaner cybertruck. This is the second loaner cybertruck I’ve been given during service appointments.

I’ve had my truck in twice now for issues related to excessive drive motor noise, and loud squealing when I turn at low speed. Neither of the two loaners I’ve had make near the same noises that my truck makes. But in each case I was told that every cybertruck makes those noises and there’s nothing they can do about it. That is clearly BS because neither of the loaners I’ve gotten make the same kinds of noises. What in the world do I need to do to get them to actually address the issues instead of just telling me that it’s normal? I feel like they’re just leaning on the fact that because it’s an electric truck, they can just say that the noises are normal and everyone will go along with it instead of going ahead and fixing it. 😡
You would need to take the tech on a test drive in BOTH vehicles and get them to agree the noises are in fact different…enough to warrant service.

I hear you. Lots of people would say, "you have an awesome truck, be thankful and enjoy it!" (Not saying you're saying that.) My thing is that we, as owners, shouldn't feel forced to accept a product that isn't working the way it should. I don't want the "it should be fine and if not it's warrantied" to kick on the highway when something decides it's just time to stop working.

One of our was doing the same after we picked up in January 2024
I mentioned to service center and they said it might be the tires. They were right. After couple months and some miles we rotated tires and sound was gone.

Part of the problem is that this is a brand new product. Theres nothing else like this out there. The authority on whats normal for it and whats not is the manufacturer or its arm. (The SC of choice), which many have found to be quite subjective when it comes to “squeaks, creaks, rattles, and vibrations”

True. But the standard should be that if some/most don’t make those noises, than something is not right. Hell, if any don’t make those noises then clearly there is a way to make them all not.

Mine has a similar but different noise. Yours sounds more like something making a noise while spinning, therefore, the sound has a relatively clear period, but mine sounds more irregular. Also, it only appears when running on flat, newly paved roads in certain speed ranges, like ~30 MPH or 70-75 MPH.

I took it to the SC, and easily reproduced it. The technician says that it's a normal engine sound that happens when the engine is doing something equivalent to changing shifts. That does explain why it only appears in certain speed ranges. I'm not fully convinced, but considering that it's only mildly annoying, I didn't pursue further.

I just had the tires rotated. The noise is still there.

So frustrating. It’s the age-old Murphy’s law. The SC asked me to come in and test drive it with them. So I got in the loaner so we could drive them both back to back and wouldn’t you know, the loaner was making the same noises. Didn’t do it yesterday, but of course today. So, I don’t know if it’s related to temperature or what since it is cooler today. I just told them never mind, I’d keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse. 🤦‍♂️

In my case, the noise only reproduces at certain speed ranges and on certain road surfaces. That might be the reason why it didn't reproduce in your loaner previously.
