March 5, 2026

Firefighters battled a blaze in Santa Monica after two Tesla Cybertrucks caught fire inside a parking garage on Wednesday, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

The fire was reported sometime before 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Olympic and Cloverfield Boulevards. Thick plumes of black smoke could be seen coming from the structure before crews were able to extinguish the flames.

NewsChopper4 was over the scene, where two charred Cybertrucks were seen parked next to each other.

It’s unclear what caused the vehicles to catch fire. Authorities did not say if any injuries were reported.

FB is gonna have a heyday with this one.

Edit: Seems like the steel does a reasonably good job of containing the fire. Not sure if that is good or bad. Guess it depends.

If they put them out that quick- they probably didn’t have any battery involvement. Makes me VERY suspicious of cause.
There are certainly plenty of cameras there given all the other Teslas. Hopefully we'll get some footage soon.

If the trucks were inside the parking garage, how did they get helicopter footage? 🤔

Nothing but Teslas in this image, including 4 Cybertrucks and a Tesla service van. This was undoubtedly an overflow storage space for the nearby Service Center.

What are the chances that one of the trucks caught on fire by itself… Spread directly to the cybertruck next to it. But the car to the left went untouched?

Seems sus to me.

They said so in the video blurb.

Let's see if they investigate this, and find any "accelrant" in the debris, their will be evidence if they were set intentionaly. Tesla may be able to salvage the battery packs, and possibly the drive units, depending on how hot they got.. probably can't be used as spares for anything real, but they can use them for failure analysis/testing, after being exposed to high heat.
