2026.8 Update adds Blind Spot Warning Anti-Opening Door Feature

The 2026.8 software update gives Cybertruck the Blind Spot Warning While Parked / Blind Spot Anti-Opening Door Feature. Here's the description:

“If you attempt to open a door while an approaching object is detected in your blind spot (for example, a bicyclist approaching from behind), the blind spot indicator light flashes, a chime sounds, and your door will not open upon initial button press. Wait a short time and press the button a second time to override the warning.”

There was a thread about 3 years ago on the topic of the "Dutch Reach" and the future possibility of this "anti-opening" feature. Some were against the idea because of "not being in control", which devolved into "why do you hate pedestrians". Members were banned, and posts were deleted (including some of mine lol).

I'm glad we're now all cheering on this new safety feature.

I'm sure this is easily solvable for both sides of the argument, one press, no open, beep letting you know there is a reason it didn’t open, press again, and it overrides.

Agree. As a supposed baked in feature according to the purchase agreement, we deserve ASS. It’s been over 2 years without fulfillment.
