Has there been any update on bringing the CT on par with S3XY? It’s been two years now we just have enough training data to at least get Summon.

it's probably just low priority. I wouldn't be surprised if they just put it off till full unsupervised comes.

TBH seems like a gimmick, I'm sure they see the data of almost nobody using it

See I must of been one of those rare cases that used it all the time in my MYLR. Got a kid now and I can see it coming in handy at times.

NHTSA Closes Investigation Into Tesla's Actually Smart Summon Feature

By Nehal Malik

Tesla has officially cleared one of its many regulatory hurdles as the U.S. government winds down a year-long investigation into its remote-driving technology. On Monday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced it is closing its probe into Tesla’s "Actually Smart Summon" (ASS) feature, concluding that the system does not pose a significant safety risk to the public.

According to a report from Reuters, the agency decided to end the review after finding that incidents were primarily linked only to low-speed collisions. The investigation, which covered nearly 2.6 million vehicles, found that while there were about 100 reported crashes, they resulted in zero injuries and zero fatalities.

What is Actually Smart Summon?

Actually Smart Summon is a vision-based feature that officially began rolling out in September 2024. It allows owners to use the Tesla app to "summon" their car from a parking spot to their current location. Unlike the older, sensor-based version of Summon, ASS uses the car’s cameras and onboard computer to navigate around obstacles like shopping carts, curbs, and other vehicles in a parking lot.

I use summon to move my model y back and forth frequently. I don’t give a shit about summon to front of store from parking lot, just want basic forward and back for fucks sake.

Yeah I’m kinda in the boat where I would use it to move my truck back so I can fully open the doors to load the kiddo in. Some of our garages and parking spots are tight.

It’s an important feature and I hope that those who have it and use it isn’t as rare as you guys are supposing. I’ve used it frequently on every car that we have that has it - which has been a total of four (everything but the CT). And as I have noted dozens of times here on the forum — the car that needs it the most is, in fact, the CT. It’s huge and has odd proportions the snub nose is never where I think it is!

It was on the list of features that anybody who purchased the vehicle (even through a few months ago when it was still expressly being presented as a forthcoming feature) was assured would be part of the to purchase the vehicle in the first place.

So, I’m sure that it’s coming. I think it is low priority, I think that’s pretty shitty. But we’ll get it eventually. It’s not like they can make an impossibility argument.

*Importantly, as noted by @CyberGus, it’s possible that the entire delay is due to the government investigation into FSD which I didn’t realize was so heavily focused on ASS. That, in and of itself, could explain the entire delay.

Same with PowerShare for Powerwall owners, promised delivery in 2025 initially. Now "soon" since January.
It's hard to trust Tesla on features that are not available when you buy, lessons learned.

I think it's coming. Although my CT is much dumber than my '24 Model S when it comes to automatically deciding if it should go Forward or Reverse coming out of Park. The Model S 'guessed' correctly 100% of the time. The CT wants to auto-shift straight into Drive when it's parked nose first into a wall

It’s a feature that I dint use a lot but….. a couple of times when it started raining while I was in a restaurant I used ASS on my 3 to pick me up. Comes in handy in a few scenarios. Otherwise it’s only useful to show off.

The straight back and forward movement on my M3P is great for tight spots, I use it a lot.

The summon to location doesn't really work. It was raining lightly and I decided to use it at the store after remembering it existed. The car backed out of the spot and half turned and then died. It was scared and didn't want to move anymore. It blocked the path of travel in the parking lot, people were honking and mad, I looked like an idiot running to the car and jumping into it to stop it obstructing the whole lot. Unless the CT works better, I probably won't use summon to location. But straight forward and back is must have.
