I had a minor hit and run today, smashed my front right fender, and slashed my tire. Still drivable, but needs replaced, don’t want want to put too many miles on it in its condition.

My plan was to make it through this summer on my current tires, <25k miles factory AT wheels, then get something good for winter, then new wheels and summer tires and start swapping them every season. This pretty much ruins that plan, as I just paid off my truck and started some remodeling on my house, and don’t have the extra funds for a nice set of wheels.

So here is the I important question. Do I go with KO3s or KO2s. I have KO2s on my jeep and they are fantastic for off roading, and I’ve heard the KO3s aren’t as good off road(rumor mill). But I don’t and won’t take my CB off road, I do want something good for snow. or is there another brand that I should consider that looks as good(yes looks are important, or I’ wouldn’t have wrapped it or gotten tinted windows).

Has anyone had KO3s on for a significant amount of miles, that can attest to wear performance?

KO3s do better in rain and slush. They improved the water ejecting pathways. They have tougher side lugs which will wear better on heavy vehicles. I have been looking at their HD terrains though. It's their HD mud terrain tire since KOs wear out on high torque EVs(unless you drive like a granny) and KM3s are actually softer for mud.

Here's a good video on the difference with the new KO3:

How HDT is tougher than KM3(@17min):

Be careful going over 110mph though, these aren't rated for 130mph like the factory Goodyears are.

No experience with BFG, but DuraTracs are awesome. Not much more road noise, not much less range, but a huge improvement in the rain. It actually iced here in TX recently and they did really well. Only a couple minor slips but they found traction again almost immediately. No crazy fishtailing or anything. These just might be my forever tire.

My experience with the Wrangler Duratracs is that they perform well in rainstorms and standing water, but their traction on wet pavement is considerably worse than the OEM Wrangler Territory A/T tires. The Duratracks are also consistently better on soft surfaces like clay and mud and most types of snow. Between these two tires (the only ones I've driven on a Cybertruck), I would make the decision on whether you need the durability (flat resistance) and soft surface and standing water performance of the DuraTrac or the road holding performance and better efficiency/quietness of the Wrangler Territory. They are very different tires. Of course there are lots of other options too.

I went with the Nokian Outpost nAT. They are light, so I’m getting very close to the same wh/m I got with the all seasons(10 more wh/m on the same 90 mile route). They look aggressive. They’ve got great ice and snow performance for an all terrain, and they perform well off-road. Louder than the all season, but I don’t have a direct comparison to the stock A/T.

So far I’m very happy with them.

For snow and no offroading, Nokian Outpost is your best bet. Any aggressive tread pattern will lose you range.

I have the KO3’s for about 5k miles so far. They still look like new (albeit a bit salty and dusty) and I’ve driven through snow in VT and our recent blizzard here in NJ. No issues at all. Worked like a charm.
For reference, I have KO2’s on my Ram 1500 and they’ve seen 20k miles or so, including use as a plow vehicle. They have held up well and wear is minimal, almost negligible. On road performance is also great for an AT

I have the new scorpion XTM AT tires. Very quiet. Efficiency is definitely better than the wranglers but not as good as the ATR stock tires. I'd say about 4% more than almost 9% I got on the wranglers. They're sportier than the wranglers for sure and don't feel as mushy around turns. You do hear and feel a bit more of the rough roads or cracks in the road. This is likely due to them not having the foam inserts. High speed on gravel roads feels planted. Snow was great. Haven't had heavy rain or off-road trails, but the tread pattern looks solid for both.

Not maybe what you are looking for but my oem AT’s wore out around 25k miles and I put some Mickey Thompson Baja Legend EXP’s on truck and I currently have right at 40k miles on these with another 5-10k left I would guess. Was after giving the truck a much better aggressive look vs tire longevity, but the fact they are holding up so well I will be going with them again in few months when I hit 70-75k miles on truck. Road noise isn’t great, but no worse than my raptor got with Ko2’s after 20k or so in those. Here are few pics when the MT’s were new

I do like the longevity, and the look, the road noise might be a deal breaker for me. But with ANC coming maybe not, what did it do to your range?

I went with Michelin defenders AS. I’m never going off roading, maybe on the beach for 30 second. She’s a highway queen.
I have had them on for a few months. I have been through the snow and rain no issues. I like the look as well.
I still have my original AT just in case, wife still wants me to sell them but I just haven’t.

I’m looking for some ideas for an 18” wheel. I’ve got a SAWD coming in, and I’ve also ordered some 18x9 atomic wheels. I’m considering getting a different tire than the OEM Goodyear Territory RT, which seems a bit plain. It looks like all the tires recommended for low road noise are only for the 20” wheels I’ve seen.

What use cases are you going for? Will you be off-roading? Ice/snow performance? Range? Those things are going to impact what is the best tire for you.

I’m runnning 18s and went with the Nokian nAT. Snow/Ice performance, low rolling reistance, and off-road capability where my priorities. It is also pretty quiet.
