I know no one will know the answers to these until the 60k Standard AWD CT comes out but I figure it'd be nice to speculate:

1. what is the mechanical reason why the tow limit is lower than the premium? 7k-ish lbs vs 10k lbs
2. it seems the 60k will not have the under-bed storage, anyone know if this can be added?
3. same for the rear armrest that got deleted in the 60k, I have to figure you can add that later no?

Just curious about the nitty gritty of the deleted features and basically, what can and can't be added on later with parts

My guess:

1. Coil-spring adaptive damping suspension (vs. premium adaptive air suspension) limits stability/load-leveling; also lowers payload (2,006 lbs vs. 2,500 lbs).
2. Vault under-bed storage is deleted; bolted assembly per Tesla service manual, so Tesla/aftermarket part can be added later - you just have to buy the necessary parts which could add up.
3. With the rear armrest deleted; service manual shows the same bolt-in install, so it should be addable later via Tesla or aftermarket - again, adds to the cost.

The whole point of the lower-cost CT was to remove parts. By re-adding these and taking manual labor into consideration, you would've been better off simply buying the Premium trim (especially if these perks matter to you).

I'm pretty sure the entry model 2026 CT will be $72,000 (promised at one point $69,000). It won't have the variable air suspension, no Wade Mode, and has static ground clearance 7.9" whereas the premium models/ earlier models can rise up to 17" when needed. However, saving $10K is real money and great Tesla is offering this. The CT either way drives like a luxury vehicle, nimble for the huge size and a comparable size combustion AWD pickup that can go fast is very expensive and...there is gas guzzling too. So, not a bad deal. Maybe the suspension is why the payload is less?

Side note, I prefer the SAWD CT. Let me tell you why:

1) Grey interior is the best color imo. White doesn't mesh well with the CTs interior and adds glare.

2) I prefer the textile seats. Softer and more comfortable. Owners report that the ventilation on the premium models doesn't work well anyway.

3) Spring suspension will be less problematic over time. Feels more connected to the road. I don't tow or off-road anyways.

4) No rear screen is a plus for me. Doesn't protrude out so the rear passengers get more room. You also don't have to worry about a screen breaking when loading stuff in the back.

5) I ordered mine when it was the $60K fire sale. What a deal of the decade. Definitely not worth the $20K upcharge for a premium.

I also prefer the SAWD, agree with you on cloth seats, much prefer that in a truck

rear screen I don't care about either but I do think the air suspension is an upgrade, especially for off-roading and towing... I don't plan to do a lot of it either but it is nice to know you can tow more with air suspension

If they offer premium upgrade for $10k to standard order holders at $59k I be hard pressed not to take it.

The only thing I want from the deleted items list is the underbed storage. I'm fine with giving everything else up. From memory, I think the sound system may be worse and there might be 120V outlets that won't be in the base version.

I can't remember if SAWD comes with it, but the 240 plug in the back of FS has been a must for me. Field welding with that sucker is incredible. And from my use it barely uses any battery.

It does. Trust me I made sure it does because I have a Stark Varg. One of the biggest reasons why the RWD was such a flop. No outlets in the back. Needs to be on every electric pickup.

Nice. Then I don't know what else you need. $60k truck, AWD, 240 plug and no maintenance. Heck of a deal.

I went down a rabbit hole this weekend into the parts catalog and wiring diagrams of the Cybertruck.

The other main differences being the rear taillight and the bed lights.

It’s plug and play for the rear light bar taillight. The bed lights are more tricky, but also plug and play. You just have to replace the full side panels first.

yeah I really want the underbed storage too, sounds like it can be added afterwards with parts
