there are nuances to the legality of a vehicle crossing water, I talked to some guys who owned Aqua Cars up at Raystown Lake a few times. We chatted them up at McD, then boated over to them at the resort. This was probably 15-20 years ago now. Also saw them down at Port Deposit MD near Lee's Landing.
Basically, if you strait line it to 'cross' the water, you're fine. Soon as you start zig zagging and start driving all over the water, now you're a boat. (and require boat things).
But, regardless, I see an idiot with a truck. Amazing how often that happens lol.
Happened a lot when we used to hit Paragon and Rausch Creek off road parks. I blame Jeep commercials... Sure it can do 'anything'... in the commercial... once... for 30 seconds... because you don't see the aftermath.. Real world is a lot less forgiving.

Up north we wait until winter and drive all over the lakes and rivers. We have never needed boat registration or life jacketsthere are nuances to the legality of a vehicle crossing water, I talked to some guys who owned Aqua Cars up at Raystown Lake a few times. Wade mode is in the same category as the built in tailgate ramp, midgate, and 500 mile range, never really reality unfortunately. After seeing the amount of water in the door cavities after going through the car wash I kinda lost interest in the wade mode feature.
Thanks guy for making CT drivers look smart.
