Does anyone know what the plastic film on the outside of the light bar brackets is for?

I didn't like the look of it because it showed above the cant rails so I removed the brackets and peeled it off completely. I think it looks better without it. I left the other plastic film on the underside of the brackets in place because it protects the light bar and doesn't show.

All of it is probably protective film meant to be removed after install. You're probably better off removing all of it anyway since you don't want to trap moisture under it later on down the road.

The service centers are leaving it in place for some reason.

Are you talking about the “pad” on the bracket. It’s a small plastic film meant to remain in place. Do you have a picture?

Yes. They replaced the whole light bar and added the bracket.
So existing light bars without the bracket have to be replaced to ones with this bracket? Or can the bracket be added to existing light bars that don’t have the bracket?

They replaced my light bar vs just adding the brackets to the existing one. It had been on since the tail end of 24 without issue
