…and expensive fix a ticket for windshield!
I’m doing the same and convinced police won’t bother with it. Just in my area of California I see cars and trucks with blacked out tint on a daily basis. If PD wanted a reason to pull you over it’s a great one but they’d be chasing people all day everyday.

Trying to figure out what % to tint front windshield. Anyone do this yet? Any insight / opinions would be appreciated.
I did 70% on the windshield and 30% on the front (driver / passenger) My tint guy told me the back is 25% so I left it as is because we wanted help with heat reduction versus being blacked out. That combo will get you some relief and provide a little privacy at night. People will still be able to see you during the day as they stare and take picture of the truck going by.

I could be wrong but while the rear window glass is 25% darkness, I don't believe there is built in heat protection unlike the tints. A good 70% ceramic tint will offer more heat protection compared to the darker 25% non-tinted glass.

I am going 70% windshield/roof and 50% on windows. In our area of the Central Valley, many people go MUCH darker than that and I have never heard of anyone getting a ticket solely for a fix-it ticket for tint.

I am using Wrapbros in our area in two weeks. He already worked on a black PPF wrap and now is doing a Candy Blue. My wife and I decided on a Obsidian Red PPF wrap. Has the darkness I want and has the metallic look she wants.

Ok cool. Im not a fan of red per se but the CT looks sick in red. I’m in the Central Valley also and Cen Cal Tint is doing both the tinting and wrap. Mine will be the first one they do and we chose Galaxy Black. I prefer metallic look and went back and forth between light and dark colors before landing on the black. My wife and son both hoped I chose black. Make sure you post pics.

The five finalists for our PPF colors were Obsidian Red, Chalk Opal, Galaxy Black, Prism Black, and Tanz Blue. The Obsidian Red is very black and you only see the color pop when direct sunlight hits it. Galaxy Black was our number 2! They are also throwing on a ceramic coat for us.

We are having them do vinyl underneath with Foundation Series on the side where it exists now and on the back having the Cybertruck logo.

Nice! All great color choices. Prism Black was my #2 but they’re pretty similar lol. What brand PPF are you using. I’d like to see what the Obsidian Red looks like. If I did ever choose red it’d have to be dark like you described it. I’m having them apply the vinyl logos also. Gotta have the FS shine through. What color FS logo are you using?

It is Pure PPF and is in the same metallic gloss finish family as the galaxy black.

For the FS logo I may do black or just put it under the PPF for a shadow look.

Someone already wrapped it in Obsidian Red, so I won't be the first.

Damn it looks good in that color. That’s ok. There’s already someone rolling around in our area with a black one just not sure which black. I haven’t seen it but a coworker and friend have seen it. Great colors are gonna be popular but I get it.

I heard the same thing on the rear. I went with XPEL XR Black 30 front windows and 30 back windows. Did not do the windshield, yet. My night vision sucks so didn't want to go much dark in front. Plus 25% is the legal limit here.

You are correct, the rear window is 25% and does offer some heat protection, it may not be as much as tint, however, there will be some.

Now that we have cabin overheat and the top glass sunshade, I am a little less worried about it because the biggest pieces of glass have some heat protection.

All around great upgrade.
I have a video coming out this weekend!
And totally illegal they can take your truck modification in California.

Local CHP were crowing about a car they nabbed last week.

(This is definitely an example of privilege, though; where police avoid policing people who look like they can afford lawyers)

True! I see many tinted windshields in my area. Hope for the best ?

EDIT: This reply reminded me to set up an appointment with a dermatologist to get a medical exemption for the tints. $6.25 fee to the state of Florida per vehicle to file the exemption.
Very specific diagnoses are required based on state. Good luck.
