Yesterday, 5/14/2024 I updated to 2024.14.6. This evening, I was reviewing the settings, and noticed under charging that there is a power share backup toggle now available.

So naturally, I checked my Tesla app, the PowerShare option is now available in settings.

so I set up a camera and went out to my Gateway 3V and flipped off grid power.

The truck was awake, and it took about five seconds to switch power source to the truck.

Next, I switched back to grid power, then I let it go to sleep and did another experiment.

With the truck asleep, I shut off grid power again. This time it took about a minute for the gateway to switch to the truck.

I did get this notification about a PowerShare error, perhaps this is because I switched it several times.

I’m very excited to finally get this release, power share is important in our area because we often lose power during storms.

Thanks for sharing. Do you have any intentions of adding a PowerWall 3 to your system. Huge benefits from my perspective. Unfortunately, Tesla is now saying this requires special commissioning support to disable the controller in the V3 Gateway.

I am on the same software and have PowerShare installed at the house but I don’t show that toggle to turn PowerShare on.

The instant switchover from adding a power wall would be nice, but I do not intend to add one.

Primarily because my house is shaded by trees, I have community solar rather than rooftop solar.

Hope you all with Powerwalls get your update soon.

This is not in the update. This was just pushed to your account. Still waiting on my access and final inspection. I updated to 2024.14.6 yesterday as well.
Thank you, that makes more sense to me. I probably would have noticed the toggle on the Tesla app earlier in the day, when I was testing the tonneau after calibration.

I have my software update preference set to advanced, and then apparently it is up to Tesla to push it to your account.

I got 14.6 a few days ago and there’s no power share in that spot on mine. I wonder if it’s because you already have a power wall and I don’t?

Thanks for the info.

So with no powerwall and the standard powershare install, if the truck is plugged in, it should take over in around a minute with no other intervention. Is that correct?

I'm wondering if there is a big load at the house (i.e. HVAC, Water Heater, Dryer, Stove running at the same time) what would happen if you are not quick enough to turn those off. Or, is some wiring done to limit what the truck provides to specific critical loads.

I do not have a powerwall.

Those with a powerwall need an update expected in June to enable powershare.

i’m hearing that Tesla will have to push an update to you to enable power share if you have the Gateway 3V.

That is correct from my experience. However, I only have two samples, one with the truck awake (five second takeover) and one with the truck asleep (one minute takeover).

I made no other intervention, other than to flip off grid power at the gateway.

The installation should be made such that the sum of all loads is below the 11 kW put out by the truck. Any loads above that should be put in the non-backup circuits.

I suspect something in the system can detect when loads are above the rated output, as I did get an error message about that as seen in the screenshots in my initial post.

The error says “PowerShare error. Review system status and turn off high-power devices.”

how long had your power share been installed prior to getting the update available for you to toggle? Just had mine installed a couple days ago and they said it would be available in 1-2 weeks.

I have 2024.14.6 and with 5 powerwalls and I DO NOT have that option. It was determined that I was already set up and ready for powershare and require no other equipment. I am waiting on my $700 credit for the universal wall connector. I currently have 2 Tesla wall connectors
