My truck was confirmed to be delivered on 5/7 to my Tesla delivery center. I was told by the workers there that I needed to have the vehicle paid in full and insured on the date of delivery, so I did what they said. It's now 5/17 and a pickup date hasn't been confirmed, I've been told they are "waiting for papers." I asked if these were papers I owed, it was confirmed by my delivery representative that it is something they are doing on their end with registration.

Every week costs me about $100 due to paying loan interest and insurance on a vehicle I don't have, while not being able to finalize my trade in of my other vehicle. Before anyone says "you're buying a $120k truck, you can afford it," it's the principal of the situation and I'm not ultra rich by any means.

What's everyone else's experience picking up their trucks? Do they normally sit on the lots for 2+ weeks? Should I be concerned there's something wrong with my truck that's not being disclosed to me?

My CT was delivered 7 days after receiving VIN. I thought that was rather quick.

My VIN was 4/28. I have no issues with the fact it took until 5/7 to get the truck to my delivery center. The part that I'm confused about is why I am paid in full and insured and completed all papers, but I can't pick up the truck.

My delivery representative called me and just confirmed "there were service issues when the truck arrived, this is the cause for delivery delay."

I guess this is better than sending me off the lot with a lemon, but not what I wanted to hear. I was promised the truck won't be given to me until is it in perfect shape, but they didn't have any other details on what was the "service issues." They said the repair timeline is unknown, it could be weeks.

It looks like a lot of trucks in the 8000-9000 VIN range are having issues. I wonder if the ramp to 1,000 trucks a week was too much to manage. Or maybe with the layoffs there was manufacturing disruption.

I asked if there would be any consideration given to me, since I am now paying multiple insurance policies and interest on multiple vehicles. They said they'd review my request, but my expectations are low at this point.

Same here 9300 truck in service haven’t taken delivery. I honestly think the back office plan was they knew the trucks were defect and planned to let them just go into service….just doesn’t make any sense.

$400/month just for interest and insurance? Whoa! What amount did you finance and at what interest rate? What are you paying for insurance?

CT insurance is around $300 a month. I am paying $3 a day in interest on the vehicle as well. Put those two things together and that's essentially $400 a month. As I am duplicating these costs on my Lightning, this is money being thrown away.

I asked if I can complete my trade in and get a loaner until the CT is available. I'm waiting on a response now.

Generally, it's best to bring a cashiers check, bank check or loan check which they will accept at delivery. This way you have a chance to examine the vehicle first - not just a Tesla but any vehicle you buy - before committing the funding.

There seems to be a pretty big number of issues reported in this VIN series. My hope is that there's so many of them, they are similar issues and one fix can be applied across the batch.

I offered to do this, the request was rejected. This is a direct copy and paste from my text messages with my representative, "We prefer payment through the Tesla App using Plaid which acts as an ACH from your bank account directly to your Tesla account. We do require full payment prior to delivery, and cannot accept a check same day. You can mail us a check with your DMV documents once we send those."

Had the truck been available on or near 5/7, this would be far less of an issue. Since the truck was in a state where it can't be delivered, this requirement is now problematic.

I just happened to go over to the showroom to ask about all-season tires when we got to talking about my VIN and they told me that we could set up a delivery date. They initiated the whole thing, in person. Have you by any chance got the ability to swing by the showroom and talk to them in person?

After my initial post I finally got word from the delivery center. My truck arrived in a state where it had issues and it could not be sold. The "paperwork" reason for delay seemed to be incorrect, they today confirmed the truck was loaded on a flat bed and sent somewhere for a specialist to service it. I asked if it would be available next week, the response was unlikely, but they will give me updates when available.

The Beast is $40k more than any other vehicle I ever bought. I have some concerns now, it's unfortunate this is happening.

That's pretty odd, a cashiers check is effectively cash. Maybe they don't want folks at the delivery center handling cash, having to deposit, deal with lockboxes, etc. But then they should accept same-day wire transfers. I know they prefer Plaid, as ACH transfers are much cheaper for Tesla to accept than wires, but they should take wires.

The other oddity is that they make it sound like they don't have the funds (which they do) and that instead the funds are in your Tesla account (which they are not). I'd just text them back and ask them to send back the funds from your Tesla account to your bank account until the vehicle is ready for delivery.

Loan interest is a lot less expensive than insurance. I am not sure if I can uninsure and reinsure the vehicle as I wait. That will need to be another follow-up question.

I got my VIN a week ago and my SC got it 3 days ago. I’m scheduled to pick up Tue. I got a text from Tesla asking me if I wanted to get it this weekend...but I can’t. So maybe 5-6 days from VIN to delivery. VIN is 111XX series. I am really hoping they got the bugs out of the 8Xxx and 9XXX series because based on posts here, it looks like those have had some problems. I’m gonna call my Tesla SC guy and ask if there are tickets open or if there are any heads up.

The concern is they don't say what the issue is for the vehicle. If this is a tonneau cover adjustment, I'd feel a lot happier than if this is an issue with the motors or battery. I went from peak excitement I was taking delivery, to fear I'm getting a lemon.
