The concern is they don't say what the issue is for the vehicle. If this is a tonneau cover adjustment, I'd feel a lot happier than if this is an issue with the motors or battery. I went from peak excitement I was taking delivery, to fear I'm getting a lemon.
I think it depends on your SC contact. My guy is super forthright. He seems to tell me everything...

My experience was pretty smooth, but I paid in full with app. The biggest challenge for me was getting insurance policy as I didn't have one prior to add the CT to. Tesla needed insurance before Registration could be printed and many insurance companies wanted proof of registration to start new policy among other things like pictures of the vehicle. Basically a bunch of fraud prevention stuff. Finally I got GEICO to give me some basic insurance so I could get the registration card, but I otherwise was not satisfied with the policies they offer and will be switching to another company now that I have the registration.

If the insurance I wanted from the get go would have just accepted the VIN I was given, everything would have gone perfect. So it's just an unfortunate issue I had to deal with, for not having any active policy to add a new vehicle to. Fresh new Car Policy fraud is apparently a problem for some of these insurance companies.

I assume people should not pay or finance ahead of delivery and this would prevent many headaches. Making phone calls like I did for insurance during the delivery is the best way to get things going right on time. The same could be said for financing if needed.

I placed my order January 4th because I was told that I had a delivery estimate from Jan-March. I decided to order the Foundation AWD because I was willing to pay for the privilege of getting it early. I received my VIN on 4/3 and had an original delivery scheduled on 4/17. Once I received the VIN, I paid for the truck (one of several mistakes on my part). There has been several missed delivery dates and my scheduled delivery for tomorrow has been cancelled. What I paid for (privilege of getting CT early) was not delivered. I was told that the part won’t be delivered until the end of the month. Best case scenario is that I get it in early June. They will start non-foundation CTs soon, so I essentially wasted 20k. I’m beyond frustrated. It seems that if I cancel now, I go to the end of the line. My RN was 11274…

What makes you think they're starting non-FS series soon?

I was told by the workers there that I needed to have the vehicle paid in full
That's pretty odd, a cashiers check is effectively cash
Thank your state legislature. Here in Texas, Tesla cannot legally sell cars, so the "transaction" happens in California. I made a check payment via FedEx to CA, and final payment in the app.

My truck was confirmed to be delivered on 5/7 to my Tesla delivery center. I was told by the workers there that I needed to have the vehicle paid in full and insured on the date of delivery, so I did what they said. It's now 5/17 and a pickup date hasn't been confirmed, I've been told they are "waiting for papers." I asked if these were papers I owed, it was confirmed by my delivery representative that it is something they are doing on their end with registration.

Every week costs me about $100 due to paying loan interest and insurance on a vehicle I don't have, while not being able to finalize my trade in of my other vehicle. Before anyone says "you're buying a $120k truck, you can afford it," it's the principal of the situation and I'm not ultra rich by any means.

What's everyone else's experience picking up their trucks? Do they normally sit on the lots for 2+ weeks? Should I be concerned there's something wrong with my truck that's not being disclosed to me?
Insurance effective day of and down payment the day before with plaid.

Generally, it's best to bring a cashiers check, bank check or loan check which they will accept at delivery. This way you have a chance to examine the vehicle first - not just a Tesla but any vehicle you buy - before committing the funding.
Certainly agree but it’s state by state.

In Oklahoma direct sales are banned. So the vehicle must be fully paid, insured, and registered in another state like Missouri or Tennessee before it’s allowed to cross state lines.

Did they tell you what these issues are? You’re privy to know and it could help you decide if you reject and move on or request a new vehicle.

I went with Tesla insurance as it was the path of least resistance. I have yet to hear back from my regular insurer. They didn't seem to take the urgency of my request seriously...I may shop around later but it simplify the purchase process for me....

This sounds like a bunch of monkeys got lose from circus. Months now and the delivery hasn't gotten any better. And they want to give Elon his 56 million. No, he'll no.
My experience at SC is horrible. I dread delivery.
This should be. They give us their bank routing number. Account number. My bank does EFT. It's done finished in 30 minutes.
I just bought a S. Told the man I was writing a check. He flipped out cause I wouldn't finance

6 years ago I tried to buy car from Tesla. They refused to let me see it before I paid. I walked.

I was told "I don't know what the issue is." When I said, "can I complete my trade in and take a loaner until the truck is ready?" they told me that's not possible. When I asked if they would do anything like offer free super charging because I'm paying for nothing, they said they don't do that. Essentially I've been offered no explanation or nothing to make their mistake right.

When they say pay and insure or else the truck will move to next in line, it should be confirmed it is in shape to be delivered. I don't care if it's a few days in advance I pay and insure, but a month is ridiculous. Especially since it seems they don't check condition of the truck until after you pay and insure. I'm 19 days paid and 12 days insured right now. Best case scenario is delivery next weekend if the undisclosed issues are fixed, making me 26 days paid and 19 days insured before getting my truck. If it's waiting on parts, I could be well over a month paid/insured before I get it.

You meant to say "56 billion" I assume?

They probably have to reimburse you, otherwise that can easily be breach of contract. It's costing you an easily countable amount of money because they haven't delivered your vehicle within the established timeframe.

Looking at the order agreement, I don’t necessarily see a breach of contract from a delivery perspective on Tesla’s side, where it’s stated how long Tesla has to provide delivery once they have the vehicle at the delivery location and the consequences of their failure to do delivery. Tesla specifically states that the estimated delivery date is not guaranteed.

However, with OP being in NY, there is a state provision allowing them to cancel the order for a full refund if Tesla fails to deliver within 30 days following the estimated delivery date.

That’s most likely not the desired outcome, but if the situation continues to get worse, that option is at least there. Hopefully, Tesla does the right thing and does give some sort of credit/refund for this situation especially with requiring insurance and loan to already be in place before delivery.
