In terms of acceleration up steep grades while loaded, even the Dual Motor Cybertruck will put your Silverado to shame!
Of course, I’m familiar. My current Tesla is the faster than all the muscle cars I’ve owned. I would not have chosen the Beast if I knew the wait. Katy Perry looks happy tho…

That's funny. Your definition of value is different from mine. Have you ever tried kicking a Rivian? What would cost $10,000-$20,000 to repair on a Rivian probably wouldn't even leave a mark on the Cybertruck.

Rivian R1T is a pretty nice EV for what it is, but it's not a pickup truck, the bed is too tiny to be taken seriously. I might loosely call it a "truck" in the same way a Jeep is a "truck", for it's ruggedness off-road, but it doesn't have anywhere near enough hauling capacity volume wise to meet my definition of a pickup truck. The bed is barely a foot and a half deep it's entire length (which is only 4 feet). The Cybertruck is substantially bigger, both the bed and the passenger cabin.

As to value, the Rivian was priced a lot higher during it's rollout, the Cybertruck "Foundation" pricing will be gone before too long too, leaving it the clear value leader.
I can understand your position, but I see the value difference in features. Tesla's in general lack a lot of features compared to the competition. For example Here is a short list of features an F150 Lightning has that a Tesla does not, with a lower price than even the non-FS CT.

  • Forward Instrument panel
  • Massaging Seats
  • Rain sensor for accurate auto wipers
  • Step and handle to get into the bed
  • Side access to the bed
  • Power lift tailgate
  • Wider bed (before wheel well)
  • Real time payload weight scale
  • Auto tailer hitching
  • Larger Frunk
  • Power outlet in the Frunk
  • Hands free driving
  • More interior space
  • Underseat lockable storage
  • Keyless/Phoneless locking/unlocking
  • Flat worksurface on the center console
  • Spare wheel
  • Opening sunroof
  • Opening rear window
  • Rear visibility through window
  • 360 Camera view
  • There are more but I do not want to eat more scrolling real-estate
I had the F150 Lightning, but I switched to the Cyberbeast not because the CT is a better value. I switched because the Cyberbeast is faster, cooler and has more ground clearance.

You just admitted the Cyberbeast offered more value, for you! Value does not equal cheapest, it speaks to whether it gives you what you want at a price you find compelling enough to buy it over other offerings.

Incorrect. The F150 Lightning offers for more value for the money. I gained a few features and lost a lot more. Me switching was an irrational and impulsive decision. I am self aware enough to admit it. Sometimes purchases are emotional and not based on the best value.

Auto analysts have long recognized that emotional appeal is part of the value offered. You can't cherry-pick what constitutes value. Emotional appeal is just as much part of the value equation as price.

At this point this is a worthless argument over semantics. "Value" actually has several definitions that are at odds with each other. And yes I can cherry-pick what constitutes value because its subjective to each person, by definition.

* The CT has a higher monetary value.
* For me the F150 is more valuable because of its included features, and I value its lower price as well.

  1. estimate the monetary worth of (something).
  2. consider (someone or something) to be important or beneficial; have a high opinion of.

And yet you replaced your Lightning with a Cybertruck.

Don't get me wrong, I get it, the Cybertruck is just more compelling. I can't stand trucks that flex like a flexi-flyer and have cheap materials and clunky user interfaces. I've never understood people who think features define a vehicle.

To me, it's not about "features", it's about the essence of the vehicle. How do I use it and interact with it? How does it drive when the going gets rough? How well can it perform an emergency evasive maneuver? How easily does it start looking beat-up? I cannot define value by a list of features, I prefer products with inherent quality and functionality over a bunch of cheap added on features.

I thought you said we were not allowed to cherry-pick what constitutes value? Because that is exactly what you just did.

Let me get back to the topic. If you have money to burn, I feel the Cyberbeast is the way to go. Me personally, for what I value I would pick the GMC Sierra EV over the CT if it was on sale now. If I had to go based what is available today, the F150 Lightning offers the best value for the money if you want an EV truck.

However the Cyberbeast is undeniably a great truck and experience and you would be happy to have it OP.

This is incredibly true. I wanted the fastest truck on the road, that's why I got a beast. Also why I would never in a million years have paid $100k for the AWD that is slower than a Lightning. The Lightning is unquestionably the better value to the AWD CT, if those where the only two options I'd still have my Lightning and I'd be leaving AWD CT's in my dust at red lights. Beast > Lighting >>>> AWD.

This seems like an apropos time to insert the old Buffet saying: Price is what you pay, value is what you get.

The value that I get from smoking an overly confident smug lambo driver at a red light is higher than the price difference! ?

Tesla Cybertruck To Beast or not To Beast: That is My question. IMG_8195 2

I made the switch today at a Tesla store. They weren't sure if they could do it, but took my RN number and said they would send it up to customer relations. Said, CT stuff is backburner, so expect a change if it happens in 72 hours or more. On my drive home, got the email already. The only thing keeping me from the Beast to begin with was the very long wait times. But I think I can be patient. I originally reserved the trimotor to begin with. I am also interested in the powershare stuff so the $4k credit helps.

Also, when I was looking at Cyberbeast threads, someone called the AWD, the Cyberturtle...

Also on the fence with this.

Anyone done an “apples to apples” range comparison between the AWD and Beast?

Is the ~20 mile range difference as advertised closer if both vehicles are driven conservatively to maximize range or is the beast just inherently more inefficient with the added motor?

The cyberturtle. That’s rough. I really stressed over the decision but in the end, the cyberbeast just lost on wait time and the impracticality of the extra speed. If it had been ready before the AWD, I probably would have bit. Congrats to you, however. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it immensely.
