Hey guys. I recently noticed there are hundreds of CT’s for sale. Facebook groups, CarGurus, AutoTrader, etc. Are people just choosing to ignore the resale clause since Tesla has not really pursued anyone publicly?

Just interesting to see so many knowingly break contractual terms and roll the dice. Curious what everyone’s thoughts are.

Pic for attention. She looked so good today after the rain, lol.

Lots of flippers. Remember the whole “selling my reservation!!!” Frenzy 7 months ago before it got stopped?

A bunch of people viewed the $100 refundable deposit 5 years ago as a way to make a quick buck.

There are also I’m sure some people who legitimately bought the truck because they wanted it but then listed it for some other reason. Maybe they can’t really afford it, maybe buyers remorse, maybe they see they can make 40k for doing nothing.

What I would say is if / once Tesla takes action I expect the flip market to stop very quickly. Just not worth the legal fees alone even if you win.

yeah, lots of flippers trying to sell for a profit, hoping that Tesla won't sue with all the legal employees they don't have given how lean-staffed Tesla now is. As far as we know Tesla hasn't even bothered to send a threatening letter to anyone, let alone spend weeks of a lawyer's time to try to get $50k. The sale prices aren't high enough now to make the flippers risk it to continue to order more.

I'm not worried about it.
* While there are some people willing to pay $150k for a $100k car, there aren't many who would pay that much extra just to get the truck a little earlier. You would be paying an extra $50k just to get the truck a few months before you would only need to pay $10k extra.
* There are plenty of people willing to pay $100k for a $100k Cybertruck (compared to the current production rate). Maybe 20% of those who reserved have been invited to order and the production for almost the rest of 2024 is pretty much spoken for. Sure some are getting their trucks within a couple of months of the order, but there are still many waiting for Beasts. Sure if they magically produced 1M Cybertrucks next month they may have trouble selling them immediately at foundation series prices, but that won't happen.
Similar to the R1S, R1T, Lightning, used prices will remain similar to new prices until the wait to get a new one is only a month or so. By that time Tesla will switch to non-foundation.

I see more scammers than flippers. Just like pretty much all FB forums relating to CT. Every
Post has some AHole calling themselves some ridiculous version of Elon or a family

I know there are a lot of people who want one, despite all the bs bad press, because the word is getting out this vehicle is the most fun you can have while not recumbent.

I do think demand for CTs will dramatically slow down say next year and beyond, many orders may not convert, etc. unless they bring price way down. They is only so much of an EV truck market for sure ilve observed, and then in the market the CT is polarizing on design a lot. Tesla also only has so many people that will buy their brand as of now due to not liking EVs, knowing about lesser quality, or preferring the convenience of dealers and better service.

The novelty will wear off as they get a ton more common as well and Americans want the next new thing to own, put in their YouTube videos etc.

I'm find with that and think you just need to want the CT for what it is now, and be good with it for a longer term, not fo it being so different or so since that will die down fast.

Funny. You could probably make the case that people don't like homemade ice cream and berry pie anymore either! It's low quality and doesn't taste good anymore! :ROFLMAO:

Market rules.

There will be sellers if there are willing buyers.

Lawyer here opined thst the non-resell clause is unenforceable.

I have only 32 units of commercial law but I tend to agree. In capitalism that restraint of commerce. Tesla made profit from selling their product. Why would they prevent you from recovering your money and/or making some profit by reselling it?

Why worry about something you absolutely no control of. Go enjoy your truck. Life is short.

I personally know 2 reservation holders (of 4, including myself) that have NO intentions of actually driving the truck. One of them is a doctor that just likes to make a quick buck.

It’s not me who’s worried, I may have worded that incorrectly. I’m asking if the people selling are worried, but it seems like they don’t care about the clause.

I’m enjoyong my truck, lol.
