Ordered 05/30 and already have a VIN

Placed the order the second I got the invite and I just logged into my account and saw that I have a vin. Does this mean we will be getting the car soon?

The delivery tasks next step is asking me to provide final payment. Definitely don’t want to do this if we are going to wait another 2-3 months.

How soon in advance/when did you all put down the final payment?

Nope, seems pretty recent. I got a ~13K VIN about a week ago or so for delivery in TX. They are pumping these things out now, and demand is a lot less for the FS than people think so they are going through the list faster now.

I did the final payment the day before delivery, but you can up to right before. I'd suggest making sure Plaid connects/works though if using the app, your bank is supported, can see account with funds, etc.

A few months ago VIN-to-delivery was roughly 2-3 weeks tops. Recent reportings seem to be around 7-10 days.

Oh yeah, took few weeks to get a VIN, but after VIN, scheduled EDD the next day or the following week. Would have been even faster if wasn't for the Memorial Day holiday even.

This might be the best course of action just don’t want any hiccups the day of delivery.

I’m shocked (pleasantly and nervously) how fast this happened after waiting such a long time to get the order. Was really expecting to get my VIN around September and delivery by October.

I brought a certified check on delivery day. I handed it to them after inspecting the truck. I messaged them a number of times letting them know I was doing this and confirming to whom the check should be made.

Wires can take a while and most banks will send them the next day if you request them after 2 PM. It sounds like Tesla uses Plaid which seems to satisfy them quickly. However, neither of my banks work with plaid.
