After 2 weeks with my CT I realized that the stainless exterior was going to be difficult to maintain. Also, there is really no products that have been tested and approved by Tesla directly. I was using YouTube detailing videos for information and found that all of the products being offered by them didn't seem to properly clean the truck. The fingerprints left behind were also becoming a serious concern as the oils left behind become near impossible to remove after sitting for some time. I was at a local donut shop car show and was referred to Mel Craig at Revivify Coatings in Huntington Beach (my hometown).

After speaking with Mel I found that Tesla has been working with 50 different detailing companies trying to find a solution to the maintenance of the exterior. They have all been dumped by Tesla and his company is now the only company working directly with the Austin factory. He has a graphene coating that seals the exterior PERMANENTLY. It's a very labor intensive process as you must completely remove all contaminants from the steel prior to applying the coating. However, once it's on and it cures (4 days) your CT can be maintained like your standard vehicle. It can be washed with normal car wash products and prevents scratching. This is not a vinyl or wrap, it's a liquid graphene coating that goes directly into the metals. It is a self healing material, so if you do scratch your vehicle you can leave it in the sun and the surface will naturally smooth itself out. I've had it on my truck for over a week and I can't believe the difference. They also applied it to the windows, which has been crazy cause the water beads off there are never streaks in the glass, which was a big issue with the windshield.

I highly recommend looking into a Revivify dealer near you to see if your vehicle can be done. If the metal is too far gone they can't help you. So don't wait around. Feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to answer. I'm a newby here.

I'm as interested as anyone else in a coating that makes the exterior stay nice looking without covering up the steel, but there really isn't a point where the metal is "too far gone".

If barkeeper's friend alone can't fix whatever imperfection that's there (I have a few fingerprints from the factory that will not come out), the exterior can still be sanded pretty easily. shops capable of applying this coating would be able to learn the refinishing process for the steel pretty easily.

Definitely staying tuned to this though.

You are correct that the steel will never be "too far gone". However, the cost to remove the toxins in the metal will be become cost prohibitive. For example, they charged someone $8,000 to clean and apply the coating because the exterior was so dirty. My cost for the coating was $2,500 because I only had it for 2 weeks and it was in good shape. Also, be aware that this is not stainless steel, that is a giant misconception among the public. It's a proprietary metal created by Space X and has never been tested for cosmetic maintenance. Tesla knew this and released it anyways. It's a massive problem in Austin right now.

Also, barkeepers is actually one of the worst things you can put on the truck. It's not designed for this material and will absolutely ruin it over time. Feel free to reach out to Mel Craig as he has all of the information. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing. How much does it cost?
It depends on the condition of your CT. I paid the low price point, which was $2,500. He also does wraps but tries to keep CT owners away from doing them (even though he makes more and it's easier to do). He stated that the adhesive on the wrap will destroy the metal and you will be forced to rewrap your car every couple years.

Well, I got all that. However, my view is the SS body is supposed to be less worrisome and less maintenance than paint. I hate paint. So, spending money to get the SS to behave more like paint ... be smooth and shiny is fine ... but for me, let it age and I will keep the lumps off!

Wahoo...what a master class in salesmanship, haha!! Wow!!

1. Create an urgent issue: This is a massive problem in Austin!! This isn't stainless steel, it's a Space X product that was NEVER tested for cosmetics!! It's non-stainless stainless steel I tells ya!! It won't hold up!! Yes, I know Telsa did lots of environmental testing on the non-stainless stainless steel during development, like they (and every car manufacturer) does whenever they have a new paint or exterior trim. But Tesla doesn't know what they're doing!! They got duped by Space X!!

2. Show how others have tried and failed: Telsa has worked with FIFTY!! different detailing companies and NOT ONE has been able to solve this MASSIVE problem!!

3. But wait, there's hope!!: Tesla has now found me and our MIRACLE product. ONLY OUR miracle product can protect this non-stainless stainless steel from utter destruction!!

4. Customer: Can I get this miracle product for my CT??: You came to us JUST IN TIME!! Had you waited any longer, I would have to charge you EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS like the poor customer right before you. But, dear customer, you're in luck!! Our skilled technicians have determined that we can save your non-stainless stainless steel from utter destruction for only $2,500!! You're saving $5,500!! But only if you act NOW!! Don't wait!!

5. Customer: What about wrapping? I see tons of CT's wrapped and they look great, shouldn't I just do that?: What?? Are you crazy?!? The adhesive on those wraps will DESTROY the non-stainless stainless steel...what was that, dear customer? Telsa offers wraps for the CT? Even Franz has his CT wrapped in Satin Black? Pish-posh and balderdash!! Do you think Franz paid for that CT?? Do you know how much stock that guy owns?!? He wants your CT's non-stainless stainless steel destroyed so you'll have to buy another CT!! It's a classic money grab!! Don't be fooled!! Only our MIRACLE PRODUCT can save your CT's non-stainless stainless steel from being destroyed!!

6. Customer: But what about all the folks who are using $3 cans of SprayWay, Costco microfibers, and about 15 minutes of their time to keep their stainless looking good?? This interview is over!!

This is aimed squarely at the dealer, nothing against the OP. People can and should spend their $$ on what makes them feel right. I'm just always impressed by good salesmanship (probably because I was never any good at it, haha!!).

And watch the OP have the last laugh when all of our stainless panels start dissolving in a few years!!

The product salesman does sound a little like a timeshare sales person, as others have eluded to. But the pictures are awesome. The panels all look the exact same shade, and have a beautiful sheen, while still looking like stainless. These pictures are the first that make me consider leaving the truck stainless. I've been torn between satin black, and satin white ( I live in south FL so white will save range for me, AC has a dramatic impact on my 3 current Tesla's on medium/long trips)
If this product holds up to abuse long term, better than a wrap, or PPF, it may just be a winner.
Even though the OP got rubbed a little in this post, hopefully he will give periodic updates about how the finish is holding up.
Does it require retreatments?

I’ll stick with my Sprayway and Costco towels. $8000.00? At that rate I could clean my CT over a thousand times with a multi-use can of Sprayway and a microfiber towel. No thanks.

I have never heard of this product before. But I do agree with jf64k on the salesman part. My personal opinion from reading this thread and knowing nothing about this product is it sounds just like ceramic coating for painted cars. It protects it great, until its gone which requires reapply. Ceramic is very easy to apply but detailers charge a crazy amount for it.

IF the reapply is $2500 I'm out. The original photos in this thread, make the prep job look fantastic. It makes it really tempting, when most raw Cybertrucks are rolling around with miss matched shade on various panels, and that one looks wrapped or something. But the reapply would need to be DIY friendly, and reasonably priced, for this to be worth it. Otherwise vinyl wraps every few years make more sense. Again black or white satin wraps are simply stunning on these trucks. Oh, and that one Ironman red one, if subtlety is more your style.
