I recently had my truck wrapped with PPF from Flexishield, but I'm not sure if what I received is standard. The edges were unevenly cut, and the PPF wasn't wrapped around the edges. I was informed that wrapping around the edges would require a 3M primer, which is not recommended for stainless steel as it could cause damage. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Is this normal for a PPF wrap? Please refer to the attached pictures for reference.

Did your installer use PPF with 3M primer to wrap it around?

Couldn't tell ya, sorry. But isn't 3M primer safe to use on steel?

"Promotes adhesion and improves bond integrity
Low viscosity, one component enables easy application
Best for anodized aluminum, steel and galvanized metal"

Seems like an inexperienced installer.

How long did they have the vehicle for?

Flexishield is apparently really hard to wrap the edges with. My installer won’t wrap the edges with it but other ppf they will. Hope you paid less for non wrapped edges.

I didn’t pay less. It was very expensive. I’m being told this is how it’s supposed to be done with PPF.

Oh god ! this is a mess , they basically made their life easier by avoiding the most significant part of the job (wrapping around the edges).

Other than that it was piece of cake , if I was installer I would have done all those panels as DIY in 1 day (flat panels so easy and quick) ...

If I were you I will not give more than 1200 $ for this (including material) ...

edges were the main thing. they would bring smooth softness on the corners to touch ...

I noticed that when I was picking it up from the wrap shop. I’ve only had the truck for a week. I’m not sure how it got chipped. I didn’t see it when I picked it up from Tesla.

No they are lying to you. I had to call numerous shops. One tried to tell me the same thing. Called a bunch of places that have done many many cybertrucks. It all comes down to which manufacturer of ppf is used. Flexishield unfortunately is one of the ppfs that doesn’t hold the edge.
