After 2.5 months of ownership, VIN 6500 and 679 miles I had to load my CT for a run to the dump.

I’ve been babying it and questioning whether I’d ever opt to use it over my Gen 3 Raptor, but today I did the unthinkable; I prepared it (still in baby mode) for a run to the dump.

I just couldn’t take another dropping of flowers in my backyard from this desert willow so I took it down and loaded it up. Plus, I had no option because I did relocate my Raptor to another state.

So thankful I had these (2)20x20 tarps from Costco to protect her. ?

After all the recent talk about depreciation and the end of the FS, I’ll sleep peacefully tonight knowing I protected it from further depreciation ?

The quick disconnect tie downs from TSportline were super helpful to move around after I loaded the CT. I’d definitely recommend those!

I really couldn’t be happier w this modern marvel. Looking forward to FSD rolling out soon. It’s going to just keep getting better from here IMO.

Nice work protecting the vault (bed) area. I took my DE pool filter panels to a DIY car wash because they make a huge mess. I didn't protect the bed of the truck. The gunk from the filter was in a lot of places even after a hose down. Next time I'll use a tarp. You might like using anchors for the L-track to hold stuff down easily. I found some low cost anchors on Amazon.

Hey a fellow NM'er!!!

I think I may have seen your White CT a few weeks ago at a trail head just South of Tijeras. Did you get it wrapped locally? And the tint too. I'm going to be in need of both of those services soon.

Yo neighbor!

I was out on south 14 at the trailhead ?

I did the wrap myself. I posted about it, it’s a TSportline DIY kit. 3M satin white. 15 hours, but I think I could knock one out in 7-10 now knowing how. Happy to help if you want to go for it!

Tint and Trim factory on Jefferson tinted it for me.

Yeah I definitely hope to get there. The bed liner in the Raptor was just stronger IMO so I used it mostly without any tarps. I do wish the CT had a little more strength in appearance and feel in the bed. If I use it 3-4 times a year to haul a load to the dump I won’t mind throwing a tarp in. Usually it makes it easier to pull it all out at the dump any how. If I were planning to use it more I suppose id rhino line it, but I kind of hate the thought of spending money in that category if the stock doesn’t already do the job. In all fairness I really do love the ease of using a tarp if I’m going to go to the dump. Just leaves a lot less clean up. I do wish the plastics on the CT, in the bed and surrounding trim were tougher though. I think they’ll take a beating for those who just chuck stuff into the bed. Tesla could definitely improve that category with little expense and make many happy as a result.
I didn't know the Ford Raptor came with a bedliner, are you referring to the OEM accessory you pay $350 for that doesn't even cover the tailgate, and that Ford says reduces corrosion?

I don't know what you mean you when you say it was stronger, I thought it was just a thin non-structural liner that you could throw away if it got too beat up.

The Cybertruck has a structural plastic bed/liner that comes with the truck that can't corrode or dent. You could always buy a liner for it if you are worried about scratches, but I've loaded and unloaded 100-120 lbs. firewood rounds in there, unprotected, and didn't notice any damage at all, it seems super durable. That's why I'm confused, you thought some clipped branches would hurt it because it wasn't strong enough?

The only reason I'll ever use a tarp is to contain fine material or make it easier to unload by pulling on the tarp. Or maybe if I had something toxic back there, like an old internal combustion engine leaking used motor oil or something.

I am probably more fastidious than most truck owners I suppose. On second look I do think your right, the material in the CT bedliner does appear to be quite strong, perhaps stronger than the Raptor. The Raptor I have has a Ford spray in liner not the junk plastic drop in one they also offer. Regardless, the CT rear bed looks so cool open, which I like driving it with the tonneau open to show off its coolness. ? The goal of tarping it was really to just keep the scratches to a minimum. Vanity.

How much does the Ford spray-in bed liner cost?

I ask because I think a lot of people compare prices to other trucks, say the Cybertruck is over-priced, but fail to consider that it comes with a very solid motorized tonneau cover with a retail value of around $1800-$2500 (except you can't even get a tonneau cover this nice from any other manufacturer) and they also forget the Cybertruck doesn't beg for a bedliner of some sort.

And of course the suspension that can do it all. And the stereo!

I’m not even sure what it runs for the spray in, maybe $600-$800 I think from the Mfg, but I’ve always gotten my Raptor’s used. You make a solid point. I spent $800 on the tonneau for the Raptor and it’s not automatic, but I think that it gave me more room than a roll up or motor operated option. Those seem to be optioned for tighter security in the bed itself, which hasn’t ever been my issue. The CT however does give some major protection in the bed and for all intents and purposes in the FS and probably Non FS, it will likely continue to be included. Looking at tear down alone of the Tonneau on Monroe and Assoc, I’d highly doubt Tesla options the CT without it and for additional mark up.
