Uh, you mean if you pay and are not available to pick it up? Unknown response. But I dare say that they will release it and you'll eventually get reassigned a VIN and it may be a PITA getting your money reattached to it.

That part is understood already. I'm asking about a case where I pay for it upfront while on vacation but cannot pick it up for a few weeks once paid, if they can hold it. The conflicting opinions are that some say they will hold it for you. Others say no, they won't and reassign your VIN to someone else even after you paid.
No one is saying that. All their examples are of people that have not paid.
Mine said June to August, but my VIN was assigned the day after configuring and I was able to take delivery two days after VIN assignment. I think it all depends on location.
I quoted people who said are talking about the case where a payment is sent and Tesla will not hold your truck for you and still reassign the VIN to someone else and give you another VIN
One guy did not even get the VIN so there is no way he could have paid. The other guy said unknown.
In that case the purchase agreement was signed well before any payment was made.
