Here's what I use:

Soap: Chemical guys Mr. Pink. I do use a foam cannon to apply first, let it soak for a minute, rinse it off, then apply again with a bucket and microfiber sponge. I use a long handled brush to scrub my wheel wheels and rims, and a stiff bristled Brush do scrub my tires. Both brushes are form chemical guys. If you do. agitate the surface with microfiber sponge on the body, soft brush on the wheel wells and wheels, and a stiff brush on the tires, don't expect a perfectly clean truck. You can't just spray soapy water on it and rinse it off which is what a touches car wash does.

Thanks everyone for such great write-ups and links! Purchased a few of the items recommended. Specially the Chemical Guys tire VRP and the sprayaway glass cleaner.

For the soap, I’ve read/heard a soap with a neutral Ph balance is best? Have you had good results with the Mr. pink?

Currently on a road trip with the fam and took a bottle of eco clean waterless wash and some microfiber towels and it’s been actually awesome to use to clean the truck. Gets off all the fingerprints and leaves it looking awesome

Going through the forums and on YouTube is like finding a needle in a haystack. Watched all the out of spec videos but they are nearly an hour long and he doesn’t definitely recommend anything. Barkeepersfriend seems like the consensus but I’m talking about products used for the average normal wash.

What products are you using?
  • Soap:
  • Meguires crystal auto shampoo and water
  • Finger print removal/quick touch up spray:
Sprayway Glass Cleaner and microfiber cloth
  • Tire dressing that doesn’t splash on the car when driving:
None. Tires are a wear item and will be recycled soon enough. I just wash them with auto shampoo and the truck bush. Same with the wheels.
  • Other products you recommend:
Long handled truck brush, a 5-gallon bucket, hose and garden nozzle, microfiber drying cloth (wring out when it gets saturated and keep drying with it).

Pretty much like any car except no worries about scratching the clearcoat so I'm a little more aggressive, less careful. I use 1.25X- 1.5X the recommended concentration of soap to water but I use less solution because I'm not worried about scratching the clearcoat with grit in the bottom of the bucket.

I bought all the different glass cleaners mentioned. As of now I use sprayaway glass cleaner as a kind of a watery first cleaner. Micro fiber towel to carry away major debris and then second micro fiber towel to dry up the watery residue. It loosens and carries away all the dirt but leaves lots of messy streaks. Second is original formula windex. Same 2 towel method. whole truck done in 10 minutes. I learned that the hard California water just makes more water spots to clean up so I don't even bother with the hose anymore. For me barkeepers friend helped clean up some of the original large dark spots on the finish I wouldn't hesitate use it again but haven't had the need in the 6 weeks since delivery...

I don’t have anything specific for soap and such as I’m still experimenting but the Car Guys interior cleaner has been a lifesaver for me. I used it in my Y and 3 for years. Gets dog slobber and scuffs off plastics, dash, seats. Also, this SprayAway glass cleaner has been awesome at cleaning the body of the truck (fingerprints, smudges). Windows obviously too. Quick and so much better than Windex which left streaks. Just don’t spray it onto the metal if it’s hot. I’ve found it leaves a sticky residue.

hello. When you used the BARKEPPERS FRIEND, did you only use it where the stain was exactly, did you use it on the entire section of the car or did you do the entire procedure on the entire truck?
I have heard that this product is good for leaving it uniform but it leaves it more opaque, it leaves it a little different than the original shine.

You have to do whole panels for a uniform look.

When you wash your truck, you say that you don't use soap or water, but how do you clean the rest of the truck, such as the plastics, tires and wheels?

Has anyone tried the stainless steel cleaner made for appliances?
I believe it’s “Weiman” brand.

Washing the truck at my local manual car wash about once a week with the normal soap and scrub brush (on the front) for the past few months - no issues.
