I was just offered a Beast with white interior, was given a VIN, with a delivery estimate as soon as next month. I turned it down. I’m thinking that many are willing to wait. My updated delivery is estimated to be Oct - Dec. Hell, I’ve been waiting this long, I might as well get the FS I want. I’m still toying with the idea of putting my order on hold and wait for the non-FS. Then I think, how many FS will be produced?

Hmmm, I wonder if I can get my $1000 order fee back if they can't deliver my FS with the grey interior that I ordered?

This seems fairly unlikely. Its more likely that tesla will just stop FS at what ever pre-prescribed point they have decided. They will convert existing orders to fully optioned non foundation and move on. Tesla changes options, and packages all the time with no warning. When they make a change, they do not typically fill old orders with old options. They fill with current inventory of available options and features.
We are all guessing, and anyone could be right. But what I outlined is more similar to what Tesla has done in the past. Previously they did not do 20,XXX unit runs of "limited edition" models. So that definitely skews things.
Only problem with that is all of our order agreements specifically state "Foundation Series" so they have to follow through on those agreements at the agreed upon price. If they "convert" them, then that requires either the pricing to change (not going to happen) or in the "conversion" scenario, the pricing for a fully optioned non-FS has to be the same as the FS $20k premium and thus there is no premium.

There will be less grey FS out there, so it is a + for collectible rarity, However, I'm waiting for the grey to avoid the distraction of white. Collectibility is an after thought for me...

Are F150's collectable? They are going to make millions of these ... they will only go down in value ...
This is a bit different than the F-150. Even a limited run of pretty much any vehicle will depreciate, unless many people want one. I never expect to make money on the Beast but… my grand kids might. Collectors tend to want to collect the vehicle they wanted when they were a teenager. I’m wondering, if the most limited version of the first years run might be a bit more interesting to a perspective collector. I take it your answer is no. In high school, I had an old beat up 1969 Le Mans. Today, it’s worth 10 times what I paid for it. I should’ve kept it, dammit. ? I really wish I had spent more money on the 1969 GTO judge that I was looking at back then. It’s worth about 20 times what I would’ve paid for it. But then, there is the cost associated with garaging something like that for all these years, not to mention maintenance.??

The original Model S meets some of your criteria, do they still for 10X?

Really? The Tesla S is over 50 years old? Damn I had no idea they were making them way back then. ?? Yes, one day that limited run. S might be worth some big money, assuming the battery holds up, or is replaced.

There will be millions of these things, the only difference is the etched logo.
