We've been having some slight trouble lining up our parking using the front and rear cameras, so I did a little test.

I found out that the lines on screen are offset by a few inches and not centered on the vehicle. I thought they were supposed to represent the outer edge of the wheel, which would be nice. My marker poles in the pictures are eyeball aligned with the outside edge of the tires in these photos. I understand that the front camera is not centered, but they should correct for this. The back camera is perfectly centered, so why this is offset makes no sense.

1. Front right line is outside of the right tire edge. This is a good guide.

2. Front left line is inside the left tire edge. You will run over something on this line.

3. Rear left line is inside the left tires and bumper. You will hit something with the bumper or roll over something along this line.

4. Rear right line is inside the left tires, but closer to the outer edge. Still inside the bumper. You will hit something with the bumper or roll over something along this line.

Of course, we look at all cameras and use the mirrors when parking or reserving. Just didn't realize these lines were so offset.

I feel like this is an easy fix, hopefully someone at Tesla sees this and addresses this.

16' boards might make a more compelling assessment, then they can touch both tires. That being said I haven't had any issues being off by a couple inches in practical use.

I also noticed this yesterday. If you turn all the way to the left or right 1 line goes completely off the screen and you are left with 1 line, which I think is incorrect.

Yeah, it hasn't been a "big" issue for us, just an odd oversight that wants to guide us into off-center parking ?

Can you explain the 16' board thing? I think I don't fully understand. I suppose I could also take shots in a straight parking spot if you are taking about a better assessment of alignment?

With a 16 foot board you can put it hard against the outside edge of both tires to ensure alignment with the vehicle axis.

8 foot boards laying around get crooked very quickly. Can’t imagine the bend in a 16 foot board that’s been laying around.

Okay so my 16' 14' 16ft boards weren't long enough so I used some kids chalk to make leveling points to extend past the back. The lines in the rear are definitely narrower, approximately by the width of the board which is 5" making the overall width 10" narrower than the truck.

Can’t imagine the bend in a 16 foot board that’s been laying around.
In Colorado if the boards are straight/dry to begin with, they stay straight/dry. If they are wet, they end up as crazy straws.

RESULTS: The lines are flawlessly setup to curb your wheels.

Someone with Xwitter should post this picture and tell them widen our lines. I don't do social media.

The Cybertruck tires are wider than the wheels. I've been unsuccessful at curbing them.
With all the chunky tread and parallel parking I've yet to take a bite out of the tires, but hasn't happened to me yet. I have definitely hit a few curbs and also have not knicked the wheels themselves.

Yeah, wheels for sure are safe. But the guide lines will guide you to bumping tires on curbs or parking on lines.

I've always thought curbs are only suggestions when driving a truck anyway....
Hahaha! OK Admin, we can close this thread now. The truth has been spoken. This is a feature, not a bug. :ROFLMAO:
