Well.... I didn't understand the details of the voucher program.

Picked up my truck last month and figured "hey I need a charger" so I logged on (in a hurry) and ordered the Gen 3 charger from Tesla's shop using the voucher. In my head I'm thinking "I'll come back for the rest of it later...."

Well as yall surely all know that's not how it works. Apparently I forfeited about 2 grand after buying the charger! I was absolutely shocked today when I went to check out with my cart.... I just assumed this worked like a normal gift card or credit.

Needless to say I'm mad at both myself for not reading the fine print and also a little peeved at the "system" implemented here....

Do yall think I'm doomed or is there any history of Tesla being understanding here? What department should I try to get in contact with? I'm a share holder who just bought a 100K+ truck... surly they'll be understanding here, right?!

Tesla did respond to the tickets I created via the contact section of the online store. They issued me a new voucher for the remanding balance that has the same expiration date as the original. I'm extremely appreciative of the grace they gave me in this situation. Good on Tesla!

I mean... Yea I should have read it; but it's not extremely obvious here.... I kinda feel tricked/robbed (even though I acknowledge I should have read the fine details)

Cannot hurt to reach out to Tesla just to see if they will help.

Also as a note to everyone when you use the voucher it removes the taxes from the cart/order so if you have $2,675 in the cart for example and $175 of it is taxes that will get removed when you apply the voucher so try to get as much out of the voucher as possible.

That varies by state.

Sorry to hear about your issue. Did there happen to be an email or phone number you could call in the email for more information?

I originally signed up for the Powershare, but have since decided to sell my home and will no longer be interested in moving forward with the program. A Tesla installer has not contacted me and have no idea how to get ahold of Tesla to get the voucher instead. I took delivery in May.

I hope you can explain your situation and they can give you an additional credit or perhaps you can refuse delivery and use your entire voucher again.

Yes you made a mistake. But that rule is explicitly designed to screw people over. There's literally no justification for it. It's unfairness is compounded by the fact that they have out of stock issues on a lot of their products in the store.

Good luck with Tesla support but odds are against you my friend.

You can't return items purchased with the voucher. You can only exchange them within 30 days.

I hate that rule, but unfortunately, I don't think Tesla is going to help you out since they stated up front the rules for the voucher. If they do help you out, then I will be pleasantly surprised.

We discussed this dumb rule in other threads and most of us are waiting until there is a good stock of items to choose from to use our voucher.
