My CT is currently at the SC, and one of the issues I had raised was that there is a slight hump on the dashboard on the passenger side. Almost like it is kind of swollen, it is not very visible to the eye but very noticeable to the touch if you run your hand across that area. I just checked the repair progress in my app, and the comment they had is that this is normal as it is where the passenger front airbag is located. I can believe that the airbag would be located exactly in that area, I just want to know if I should feel the hump when I run my hand across it. Can anyone confirm with their own CT if they notice the same thing when they slide their hand on the passenger side dash area?

Let me get this straight, you took your CT into service because of a hump in your dash that you can not see, only feel?

That was one of the reasons, not the only reason. There were four other issues. I didn't notice the bump myself. My friend was sitting in the passenger seat and happened to feel the dash for whatever reason and asked why is there a bump on here?
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if I did something unreasonable? It's not the greatest pic b/c of shadows but do you notice any bump? Again, it's very minor but easily discernable to the touch. I've already gotten the truck back, but if I somehow get a chance to compare with other CTs, I will likely take it to the SC again.

Hmmm....now that you mention this I did notice a little something in that same area of my dash. It was as I was taking delivery and I was pretty overwhelmed with trying to check *every* little thing on the truck before I accepted delivery and I forgot to go back to this and investigate. I was sitting in the driver's seat at the time and looked over and thought I saw a small irregularity in the dash (aka "hump"). Thought at the time it might just be dust throwing my eyes off. I'll take a look (and a feel) this afternoon and reply here.

Your call but If it is not really visible I would move on.

I can’t tell with that picture at all. It thanks for sending it. No, I’m not being sarcastic. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask them (SC) or us what it is but to ask them to fix something that you can’t see is a bit unusual. If it was clearly visible I would definitely ask for it to be fixed.

Yes, that is where the passenger front airbag is. The dash material is thin and pre-scribed above the airbag so that it deploys without sending shrapnel into your face and deploys reliably. It’s typical to have a visible cut line, depression or bump in that are due to the tolerance stack up of the airbag assembly underneath.

This is a common thing in -all- vehicles and used to be a larger insert with visible edges in older vehicles.

There is nothing to “fix”.

Same thing happened to me. My passenger told me about the bump. It matches exactly what you describe. Its not an unreasonable concern imo if it bothers you. I don’t like it…but i’m not sure it is fixable. Seems to me it might just be the way it is. But idk.
