After reading all of the posts in this thread, I'm surprised on how many people don't restrain their dogs in there car/truck. There are countless safety reasons why you should restrain your dogs while they are in the car/truck and many of those reasons are pointed out in this thread. Would you place children in the car/truck with out a seatbelt on?... Then why would you place your fur babies in an auto with out a restraint on?

That’s a you issue. What if there is an emergency and a person needs to get out of the vehicle? Tesla cannot software lock the doors from use. That’s illegal AF
The pull-up is right there. Everyone has been complaining about trying to get people not to use it. The buttons should lock in dog mode.

dog mode is for climate. Rtfm

Dog is designed to maintain a comfortable cabin temperature for your pet while you actively and frequently monitor this temperature using the mobile app (which requires both your phone and the vehicle to have cellular connectivity). When in Dog, the touchscreen displays the current cabin temperature to inform people passing by that your pet is safe. This setting is not intended for people, and should only be used for short periods of time while you stay in close proximity should you need to return to the vehicle in situations where the temperature can no longer be maintained.
It locks the windows buttons so it can lock the door buttons. The manual pull-up is highly accessible so there is no safety issue. If they can't program the buttons separately from the pull-up it would be a huge design fail.

The Tesla official dog liner cover completely the door so you shouldn’t have a problem. I found it really good and the material is top notch. Only con is the price $$$
Another con is that the door covers are easily dislodged from the door, like my small dog can do it. It's frustrating. They were great for my Model 3, but the Cybertruck ones definitely have issues.

Edit: turns out I didn't push them in far enough, now they're great, derp!

The other issue is that when driving, the doors unlock when coming to a stop. My dog opened the door in the drive-thru and at a stop sign. I don't understand why the doors keep unlocking, but I turned on the child lock which stopped them from opening the back doors. However, it won't help if you aren't in the car and they reach the front doors.

Seems like the door protectors would do the job of covering up the door buttons. If the problem is with your dogs moving into the front seats, why not just buy another pet liner to get the Tesla designed door protectors? The fact that your dogs go into the front "row" would make me want to get it anyway, since that's the whole point of the pet liner is to protect the interior. If your dogs are wild enough inside such that there's a chance while you're away that they'll press with enough force through the door protectors to open the doors, then perhaps you shouldn't be leaving your dogs unattended in the vehicle for that long.

I'm sure there's generic door protectors online if you don't want to purchase another Tesla pet liner set.
Or, you know, just have Tesla fix this brainless mistake now that it has been point out. DUH

I’m a dog lover just as most are. Sorry to hear about your pup getting out. My dog has similar abilities as yours in terms of opening doors etc. Rather than force a solution that isn’t in compliance with typical safety measures I did what one should do. Buy a dog seatbelt fastener. He is seatbelted to middle rear seat and cannot access the doors.
How is it not in compliance? Not all cars have door buttons, many if not most have pull latches, which Tesla doors also have.

I would suggest using safety harnesses for your dogs. The biggest reason is safety. You hit the brakes and your loose dogs will go flying. The harness would keep the dogs in the bag seat too.
Awww, when did you have your dog's teeth removed?

if you really want to go down that trail would you just fasten your child’s restraint to a neck collar if you wanted them to survive a crash?

I don't understand all the negativity on this thread. Tesla dog mode is one of the many reasons I only buy Teslas now--it's industry changing for dog owners.

A very valid problem was presented.
Multiple very valid and simple solutions given by community members that are just trying help you out.

I bought the CYBERTRUCK PET LINER and I was very disappointed with the quality of the seat cover but impressed with the door covers so I kept the door covers in place and bought a different seat cover that has a hard bottom that extends the back seat giving my dogs more stable, walkable room, the zip-up sides to contain the dog hair, it's water proof, has a large mesh area that allows the A/C to blow directly at the dogs. It's not an exact fit but works great to satisfy my needs for a good quality pet liner. I bought it from Amazon, link below.

Your right they would be safer with a harness on or or completely restrained in a sitting position. I'm not saying that my solution is the safest for a crash situation but they are not able jump in the front seat, jump out of the truck if the door is open and during a hard stop the won't fly up in the front of the cab. This is much safer than a completely unrestrained dog.
