Hi everyone, I signed up for Tesla insurance in February with a monthly rate of $198. I just got an email from Tesla saying that the next six months is going to be $299 per month. Has anyone experienced a 50% increase after the first six months? I attached the email. I'm planning on calling the local insurance placed I used to go to tomorrow and will report back. I'm in California, no points and 21 years of driving experience.

The previous and estimated mileage didn't change.

Good point let me get a screenshot of that. But it's basically what they initially put on as the defaults, except one change that increase the monthly premium by 2 dollars a month.

Stinks for California drivers that state law prohibits the use of driver-specific metrics for rating.

In Colorado my premium adjusts each month. A 98-100 Safety Score makes a significant decrease to insurance costs.

Lots of threads here mention Progressive and State Farm as reasonable options from a cost perspective, if Tesla insurance doesn't work for you.

Good luck and update us with your resolution.

Thank you both! I'll call around and report back.

I'm wondering if this is going to be for everyone in California after the first six months are done

I had it on my model 3 for 6 months but my rate massively increased during usage (due to a bunch of ghost fcw) then at renewal went up another 25% or something. So I had to switch as it was too expensive and false alarms raising my rate was awful ?

...Or maybe it's bullshit to allow spying and arbitrary raising of your insurance based upon what shift you work and what neighborhood you live in.

Redzoning is all about soaking the poor.

Nothing against you, but I guess redlining has become redzoning?

I just got my insurance for $589 for 6 months with State Farm. I do have a combo package with the house insurance in Miami area. Full coverage on the car as it is financed

I’ve got StateFarm as well for 4 auto’s and home and umbrella. Recently I’ve added “Drive Safe & Save” to the CT. Premium went down $124/6 mo. Even though the app says my acceleration, braking and cornering needs improvements. Ha! 28 years of hauling a$$ ?

$1,000 is a low deductible on a Cybertruck, might want to bump to $2,000 or $2,500 and see if the premium changes significantly. Really depends on your circumstances, I just don't forsee a situation where I'd claim $1,800 of damage and raising my rates for a recent claim vs. just paying out of pocket. Across insurers, it looks like $2,000 to $2,500 is a sweet spot. Taking a deductible higher than that, say $5K, doesn't seem to change the premiums much - at least in NJ.
