Totally agree with this logically, but Im glad to see this as that means I'm one step closer to ordering FS. Take my money tesla!I got the email to order this week too, based on the math I shouldn’t have until 2025/26. Many have moved on. Demand is coming down drastically, I would put it on hold 6 months. I’m waiting, I already burned about $40-50K when I bought a Model S ($109K) and Model Y P ($72K) 2 years ago. I’m not blaming Tesla, I do think the way they did it was BS, but I bought them for the price I thought was fair so that’s on me. I’m not going down that road again.
No tax benefits here, unless they change the income level next year, that would be nice if they did.
The car industry is hurting, so is Tesla, prices are NOT going up. Look at the discounts on nearly every EV besides the Shiny Objects, they are significant.
I got ahold of sales and they said I cannot roll the $1k into a model Y - this doesn’t seem to be in line with what other people have experienced. he also said if I extend my reservation and put it on hold if I’m not allocated a regular AWD by the time the hold expires then I loose the $1k deposit - this makes me think it’s worth moving forward with the FD cybertruck I ordered but also seems incongruent with what other people have reported - thoughts?Totally agree with this logically, but Im glad to see this as that means I'm one step closer to ordering FS. You had paid $1000 and put it on hold for 6 months for non fs without losing 1k?Same boat as you. I called and asked to put the reservation on hold. Max time is 6 months. The rep mentioned that by then they will be able to match me with non fs.
I think a fair amount of buyers did exactly that. I dont think they really thought it through before putting their money down and now their hoping that their financial situation will change in 6 months.If you can't afford it, don't buy it. People have been able to put their FS on hold with their 1k deposit. As Beast said, I wouldn't count on the tax credit on the CT. It's possible it doesn't qualify or the tax credit doesn't exist.
According to the sales guy, I talked to I can put it on hold, but if I am not allocated a non-foundation CT by the time the hold is over i loose the $1k. He also said I can’t roll it into a model y. THISIf you can afford it follow through with purchasing your reserved FS Cybertruck. Nobody really knows when the non-FS will start production.

Theoretically, based on Tesla’s public statements, production of non-FS should begin this quarter. Does that mean Tesla produces 6 in September that ship in October? If non-FS does start this quarter, I’d expect people at the beginning of the line to get invited to order their non-FS cybertruck first. Some of those folks were invited to order FS in Dec 2023 or 8 months ago. So guesstimation says you’ll be looking at mid-2025 at best for your non-FS if you only recently reserved a FS. Keep in mind conversion rates should be much higher for non-FS as Tesla runs the list so it’s quite possible you’ll be waiting until mid-2026.
I thought about waiting for a non-FS beast as the price is the same as the FS AWD, but the uncertain wait and questions around options/option pricing at that time nudged me to buy earlier. After six weeks of ownership, I’m very happy with my FS AWD and plan to run it for quite a long time. I also think prices will go up in early 2025 so the $80k AWD may be $89k, especially if Trump and the GOP sweep in November and repeal the $7,500 EV credit.
I’m waiting for the $69,000 tri-motor with FSD CT that I put down a deposit on. I have an invitation to design my FS CT in my Tesla app. But I’m not going pay an additional $50,000 for a FS CT. That $50,000 will disappear the moment I drive the car off the Tesla lot. Also, I’m not in a hurry, because I want to give Tesla time to work out all of the manufacturing bugs. 4680 batteries would be a nice addition too.Hi all - I got the invite to configure the FS CT and got so excited that I went ahead and configured and paid the $1K order deposit. I got financing approval but the downpayment is a bit higher then I would like, so now im wondering if its worth waiting (who knows how long) for the non-FS CT aka regular AWD, proceeding with delivery (already assigned a VIN) for this FS CT I ordered, or even trying to roll the $1k deposit into a model Y (not sure if this is possible, I asked through the chat on the app but no response). My reasoning is as follows: I love the FS CT but it's obviously pricy, and I don't need any of the extra features except FSD which I don't NEED but would be nice to have. I currently have a model 3 and use FSD all the time but am also fine with regular autopilot. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind waiting for the non-FS regular AWD CT and save $27.5K, but I don't want to wait over 6 months and who knows when I'll have a chance to actually order the regular non-FS AWD CT. Alternatively, I'm even considering the model Y, and im not sure if they would let me roll the $1K deposit I paid towards a MY, and if so, its probably waiting for the Juniper release next year anyways. I don’t understand comments like this. Did you not notice both parties printing trillions of additional dollars and running massive deficits while keeping interest rates near zero?
