I don't remember. Is accident footage uploaded to Tesla? Might be able to get it if you need it. But it sounds like it's going to work out. Sucks that it's going to take so long. A lot of the hype will die out by then

Good luck. Not trying to :poop:on your misfortune, but I hope you don't have to file a claim for insurance. If you don't report the accident promptly, you're giving both insurance companies (his and yours) an opportunity to deny you if you end up trying to make a claim in the future.

Also, you should have a business auto rental insurance policy, because your personal auto insurance doesn't cover your Turo/rental activity. If you have the insurance coverage through Turo, they may still try to assert the timely notification.

Best of luck to you and hope your CT gets fixed and back to normal soon.
Ya he’s VERY lucky the driver is willing to work with him and it wasn’t a worst outcome. If he would have hurt someone and they sued.. bye to everything this CT owner has lol

Given the driver's willingness to pay nearly $30k to avoid any "Imperial entanglements" I'm guessing he was up to no good

Don't forget too, sometimes they have up to several years to sue. In PA, it's 2 years. If this just happened, you got a long way to go... Other party probably has pictures of your CT with its plates. You don't know, the renter is a damn liar. This is what scares me and stresses me out.

Good luck to you. I wouldn't trust a stranger with my Airpod much more a vehicle attached to my name. Damn country is so litigation heavy. No way in hell.

You know the deleted footage thing really had me thinking. It sure would be nice to have a valet mode that prevents deletion of footage. There is a use case with the rental situation here, but I'd like to have control of preserving footage when I loan the truck out to family or friends, hand the key to a valet, or drop the car off for tires. Is this at all possible? Like a special drive where all footage is copied to a secondary regardless of what Tesla software does to the primary drive? Just curious if this has been solved.

Definitely not worth it to buy a vehicle you probably can't afford so it has to go on Touro to pay for it.
Thanks for the heads up. It’s a business for me. No loan to pay off. I have the rental agreement and time stamped photos of the damage and the responsible party has signed a payment agreement with a timeline and acknowledges that if we have to go to court he becomes responsible for court cost and lost revenue. So far he has ponied up the cash. And I know the feeling about trusting; but I seem to have a pattern of trusting people. Some have come through and others left me hanging. I can afford this loss if it comes to that. But it is frustrating.

Easiest solution would be a pin to delete setting just like the glovebox pin and exit valet mode.

I can with certainty tell you that this will not work out for the Owner. Once the person who damaged it realizes that he has an “out,” he will take it and leave the owner holding the bag with no recourse. If he’s not responsible enough to take responsibility, what makes you think he will do the “right” thing and fulfill his obligations to the owner? I learned from a young age that most people aren’t honest…not all, but dang sure, it is a lot. Anywho, I really hope I am wrong.

I would love to have that option. And I will dig into it more. But I think valet mode restricts so many other things that it might diminish the experience. I would be happy to know if a work around if anyone knows one. Thx

people tend to think everyone thinks as they do. So this might be a reflection on what you would do in that circumstance. As my actions reflect my own thinking. But you might be right. I will update in a couple of months.
