The red straps the instructions say can remain attached to the truck should not.

I left mine attached and the Tonneau cover made an unusual contact with one. It popped the snap and broke the leading white tonneau guide wheel off. So, back to service. It appears the black plastic the white guide wheel spins on broke completely off because of that strap.

The more you know….

hmmm, interesting. I thought about leaving them attached but did not thinking they might get prematurely weathered or dried out from the sun beating on the vault all day every day.

I left mine attached. I had worried about something like that. I think I'll remove them.

I wouldnt. So mine came unsnapped and fell into the abyss never to be seen again after breaking a tonneau wheel.

Any ideas on getting another red strap? Seems like a process of 500 text messages through the app.

I left my red strap attached, tonneau didn’t close. Tried again, then it did.
setup tent again later and noticed one of the teeth on the strap broke off. Guess that could be why my tonneau didn’t shut the first time. Glad it didn’t cause more damaged, I’ll be removing my straps from now on so I don’t have to remember to tuck them away.

@NormalSpeed did you end up getting a new red strap? I had the same issue and I'm trying to get it replaced but I'm going back and forth with support too many times...

I bought the webbing and the buckle so I have about 50 feet of webbing and 25 buckles I can make my own. You simply don’t need it. I have been camping in this tent so many times and you just don’t need it. Maybe someday I’m really really really bored. I’ll get around to making that strap.
