Hi All,
I've been reading some threads here and puttering around the rest of the internet (such that it is for CT information). Most service centers can't give you any information until you have a VIN. Here's my scenario:
Reserved CT: 8/2022 - RN11775
Opportunity to FS: 6/20/2024
Configured CT: 6/22/2024
Configuration:
Foundation / AWD / White / All Season Tires
(The rest of the config is pretty standard)
Delivery to Northern California
I've been waiting for a VIN since then of course and it seems like it takes between a few days and ~6wks to get one assigned (unless you ordered the Beast). I did read about the All Season Tires being delayed here and happened to see the pic of how the AS lined up with the wheels themselves. I wasn't too excited about it.
Today, I decided to check the Delivery Date Range (in the 'change configuration' web page). It had moved from July - Aug to Aug - Sept (understandably). I reasoned with myself that I could do with the All Terrain tires and when the truck needs a new set, I'll swap to All Season. The All Season tires aren't available on the configuration tool right now anyways. So I changed from AS to AT and hit the save button.
Less than 1 hour later.....
Tesla app is hitting me with push notifications that I have a VIN assinged. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty excited. I didn't think I'd get a chance to have a FS and the fact that this is real, is pretty cool. My plan is now to switch to All Season when the All Terrains need replacing since I'll be using my truck for lighter work (I'm a big 'ole nerd, so the heaviest 'work' I do is hauling a friend's furniture or taking trips to home depot).
I wanted to share with any of you who are holding out for the AS tires but aren't convinced that it'll be worth the wait. Hopefully this helps someone.
