Got it done, but not optimal

Windsor CO to Albany Lodge WY - about 115miles each way
Speed Limits mostly 75mph, but middle of nowhere so.....
Following friends in a 2500 Diesel
2 Bikes Each Truck (450lbs) + passenger + 50lbs gear bags
only 2 Tesla super chargers in southern Wy - Laramie (150kw, 6 stalls) and Cheyanne (115kw, 4 stalls)

Loading: 2 bikes fit for sure - but require some unique efforts to tie down safely - bed being narrower than traditional truck means bars hit if put straight in. Ended up with tires turned toward middle of truck and touching - worked, just had to figure it out

Other truck driving 90mph the entire time + Bikes in the air stream = between 700-800wh/mi usage - ouch, range anxiety - I was trying to be smooth but also keep up (diesel driver has 2 model Y's, so he gets it but 90mph is flow of traffic and it was already a 12 hour day)...having all that power and trying to "conserve" sucked

With bikes loaded the tail gate is down = no rear camera and cant back straight into supercharger because cords too short - had to go in at an angle and take two stalls - problematic at busy super charger

CT Room / Storage is awesome (for gear, back seat for gear bags, etc). Ride smooth as hell with bikes, etc.....CT confounded the folks in Wy, not many passing through given the lack of EV's and infra...

4 Stall Charger at Cheyanne = was full when we got there and with all stalls full = 115kw charged at 56kw (with battery < 20%) = takes a minute

Tesla range calls seemed to be reasonable but I charged extra to be safe...not many plan B options out in the wild - maybe find someone with a shop and a 220v but who knows.

we got some heavy rain / wind on the way back - truck stable & planted and BAW worked well if not on auto

Also took Stark Electric Moto and this was the first time at Albany - so had range anxiety on bike too given we were deep in the mountain - but was an awesome ride and ended with 25% battery.

So successful and made it, but definitely range anxiety and extra time needed. Norther CO/ Southern WY needs some decent chargers and a few more spread around since there's high speed roads and large distances.

Next time if it's just me and my model y buddy I'll take CT, but if with others / another vehicle I'll take my diesel....my thoughts remain - Tesla should have done 150kw battery and targeted 400mi range.

Also, anyone make a supercharger extension cable? eg like a 5' one? guessing not given CT is new and corner case with tailgate down + cable thickness / cooling - but figured I'd ask....

researching if other charging in southern WY - maybe find something better / bigger than Tesla ones.

So there's a rivian that's CCS / SAE...does that work with CT with an adapter? or do I need J-1772?

Tesla said they’re making a NACS to NACS supercharger extension. I’m also eagerly waiting on that before a trip in September.

There is a CCS adapter that works with Cybertruck. Check Outof Spec motorings videos. They also had a cobbled NACS/CCS extension thing that worked, but was sketchy.

Great report. I'm buying CT AWD for my dirt bike too. So from 15%-85% charge how many mile do you think you were getting?

So you were getting 231 miles of range for 100% with two bikes and other loads? I get 190 on my model y with 1 dirt bike. Its better and probably with 1 dirt bike i'd get 250 miles!

I didnt get 231 mile range because I was driving 80-90mph the entire way and using 750 wh/mi - so I got closer to 140miles as I charged to 100% and got to destination with 22%....so 78% of battery for approx 115miles

what I was trying to show in the table is that if I drove slower, or went somewhere with traffic/police that I could have gotten 230ish miles based upon 450wh/mi consumption - which by the way I will never get because I refuse to drive 70mph in the middle of nowhere

2 bikes, 2 people, 2 gear bags and maybe 100lbs of kit in the truck

if you had 1 bike, 1 person and 1 gear bag and drove 70mph ish with an 85% charge you should be able to get 240ish I would think - not sure the drag diff between 1 and 2 bikes and dont think a few hundred lbs matters much to range...speed / drag is what kills range

That make sense?
