Hey guys!

This is my first post so I apologize if it’s in the wrong spot.

I got approved for my Tesla loan and the app is asking for final payment before signing agreement and scheduling final delivery.

I’m wondering if I can wait until I see the truck and inspect it before putting down the payment or not. I don’t know if any of you guys had experience with that. I’m thinking that if I can’t I might just switch to paying it outright so I can actually inspect it. Any advice or comments would be appreciated! Thanks!

Edit:
I’m in Chicago if that helps

It depends on the state, I believe. I inspected mine before making the final payment.

Didn’t even consider that! I’m in Illinois if that helps.

I have no idea. All 4 of my Teslas were picked up in North Carolina.
So you waited until putting the down payment right? So the “Delivery Day” section opened up for you before any payment.

I didn't make any payment until I was at the Tesla Store/Service Center.

Many have their FI wire the money the day of pickup or bring a cashiers check and provide it to Tesla at pickup.

I picked up in Chicago, had the check in my hand, and after my inspection, handed my down payment and took the truck home.

So you went through a third party loan right. I’m wondering if I could do the same with Tesla’s financing.

Picked up our Beast last Saturday in Aurora Colorado. held the last $15k payment till we were able to inspect the truck.
We told every Tesla person we talked to this was our plan.

- On pick up day, we were told there was nobody available to walk us through the vehicle as we requested since this is our first EV. We said we were holding payment till we had help and instantly someone appeared.
- On inspection we found lots of scratches in the metal. We were again told that’s normal. We said we were going to refuse delivery and the scratches were quickly taken care of.
- We found a tiny dark spot in the metal and were told “that’s just the alloy”. We again said we were refusing delivery and quickly got an apology and $350 service credit.

It’s an expensive truck. We held them to our standards and got what we wanted.
We would have been ignored if we had paid up front.

Just my 0.02.

Yeah that’s exactly my worry. I’m putting a fairly large down payment and I don’t want to put it down unless I can fully inspect the car and make sure there are no major issues, scratches etc and if there are that they will address them.
I’m worried if I pay the down payment then that’s pretty much and I’m shit out of luck. Which I really don’t want to be the case. Appreciate your input!

Tesla's financing is through some third-party bank. Normally Chase or Wells from my experience.

No I went through Tesla Financing, and they put me through TD Auto.

Yeah correct I believe I went with Wells but this is my first Tesla, I don’t know if they send me the check or just deal with Tesla directly. Completely new to this Tesla financing.
