Time limit on placing order?

I've looked at the pre-order Agreement when I placed my pre-order, and nowhere does it state anything about a timeline for completing the order once contacted. My question is: When Tesla is ready to fill my CT order, do I have a specific amount of time to do so before I lose my place in line, or can I place my order at any time after being contracted? (counting on TSLA to have risen enough to fund the purchase).

They give you 30 days right now with Model Ys. You can ask for an extension but they may or may not give you one. With the Model Y if you refuse delivery you lose your deposit and would have to start over from scratch at the back of the line. If you had reserved FSD at a price that would be gone as well.

No. Tesla let me do exactly that a week after I originally placed my reservation and nothing changed. If you make a substantive change, such as adding or removing FSD, then yes. Since we are not in a configuration stage those are the only things (trim level and FSD) we could control. I am assuming that changing FSD changes the reservation since FSD pricing has changed.

The amount of time you need to be prepared has changed - it varies wildly by their production times and delay.

No, choosing another model doesn't change your place in line... But it does put you in a different line, so it will change the estimated delivery date.

They often encourage people to switch to the configurations they're able to fulfill sooner. And with the Model Y, they eventually canceled orders which sat on variants they weren't able to put out the door.

They told me that I could postpone delivery and then called me back a few weeks later and told me that I had to take delivery within 30 days. I think that whether they 'will' require this is different than whether they 'can', and will change all the time.

I wouldn't make the assumption that the pre-order number is a "place in line" anyway. They've never said it is. They've done free for all's in the past.
