Has anyone used a floor jack and jack-stands yet to rotate tires at home? I see the jack-stand location, but a bit hesitant to use a jack stand there. Hoping someone in the community has already tried!

Discount tire just did my rotation free. Walked them through the jack mode set up and gave them a tour of the truck. piece of mind at a low price

Set the height to entry, jack mode, lift high on 1 of the points till both wheels off the ground, insert jack stand, rinse-repeat. The hardest part is how heavy the wheels and tires are. Seriously.

Thanks! So no issues with the fact that there is no groove to hold the top of the jack in place? Just worried about slippage.

What I did that worked (finally) is put it in off road mode, raise it to very high, put it in jack mode, then used two 4ton bottle jacks to lift the front and back wheels at the same time and was able to get the one side of the truck off the ground enough to change the tires. No jack stands. I did use 2x4's as a spacer and to protect the underside of the truck.

Yeah, the jack-stand spots don’t look safe to use without something like a 2x4 between the stand and the truck. I kay just lower it slowly on to the stand to see how it handles it.

Only issue I would see is if your stands aren’t tall enough. Wood blocks are always sketchy. A local tire shop is the way to go.

For my F350 I can use 2 heavy duty jack stands (its about the same weight as a CT) and a 4 ton floor jack. I watched how Big O tires did it, so I got the same set up. They would jack up the front from the center diff and place the stands under the front. Then the release the jack and go to the back. They would jack it up in the rear center diff and they had everything up in the air. They somehow did the whole thing in about 8 minutes... impressive.

They used a NAPA 4 ton floor jack. They go on sale all the time. I watched for it and got the exact same jack for $200 when NAPA had a good sale going.

Now... for the CT, I have no idea if you can center jack it in the rear or front. Perhaps someone in the know can let us know. That said, you can get one side up in the air on the jack stands and use the floor jack on the other side 1 tire at a time for when you do a cross-over of the tires. So the minimum is 2 jack stands and 1 floor jack. YMMV.

Is there a reason the manual says to have it set to medium?

I use this TRAC tire jack when rotating tires at home. You can use it to easily lift tires up into position...A bit pricy, but saves a lot of frustration / grunting when rotating tires or plugging holes where you need to remove the tire...

It is saying to set to medium so there is enough room to get the jack under the truck.
