Happy for you except that the price is prohibitive and why is the regular AWD version not yet available at $50,000 US as agreed by this dear Elon? ??
One drive in the Dual Motor Cybertruck will help you immediately understand it's not a $50K truck. This is a much better product than the Dual Motor that was announced in 2019. Honestly, it's such a good truck it should really cost around $150K, but then only wealthy people would be able to afford it. Tesla knows they have to sell it for less if they want to be instrumental in accelerating the shift to electric vehicles.

It was very smart of them to release their first truck as a product that was objectively better than all their gas competition. They wanted there to be no doubt it was better.

Although electricity is very expensive in Mexico, everyone has solar panels to power their homes and charge their cars. Solar panels systems are inexpensive in Mexico compared to Canada, however they are lacking in battery backup systems.
Electricity in Mexico is slightly cheaper than the average price in the US. As of Dec. 2023 the national average in Mexico was only 10.8 cents USD per kWh. That said, gasoline in Mexico is government subsidized and also costs less than in the US.

Tesla may not ever be able to make or sell a EV truck for less than $120,000
Huh? The Cybertruck in my driveway was sold to me for a lot less than $120K. Maybe you are saying I got a screaming deal? Only the Tri-motor Cyberbeast sells for $120K.

The government government subsidized electricity rates are indeed very reasonable, however when you exceed that allowance and go into the DAC (high domestic usage) you pay about $7 per kWh (131 mx pesos)and you cannot afford to use your air conditioner. lol

You proved your point. The graph you posted has literally about the same prices for passenger EV batteries. You also have to factor in that 2018-2019 Tesla was producing model 3 at a loss. Profitability for the company has got better since then. Still Tesla is the only manufacturer producing EVs at a profit.

Also, many people from Canada who had reservations had mistakenly put their reservation through the US website, and I understand that those reservations were cancelled.

Canadian existing Tesla owners did the reservation through their Canadian account and avoided that error, but non Tesla owners watched the presentation on the US Tesla site and put their reservations through that site.
This is literally me! And we didn’t “mistakenly” put our orders through the US website. We were TOLD to “order now at tesla.com/cybertruck”.
I’ve been communicating with Tesla service by text all day to try to get them to switch my US order. I’ve already paid the $1,000 US and configured my FS truck through the long term shareholder program on May 23rd (also have a low res number RN112770410). I just can’t finish the delivery steps in the app because the only options are in the US. The person I’m dealing with by text at Tesla Support just seems so daft! Any recommendations for someone I can contact directly would be much appreciated. So frustrating!!!

This is widely misunderstood. The Model 3 was produced at a per unit profit by mid 2018, the fact that the company itself was not quite profitable was due to other initiatives like the continuing build out of the Supercharger Network and Service Centers. By the time of the Cybertruck reveal, Tesla as a company was already profitable.

Hi @Rio ,
I read this and thought "wow, we could start a support group for husbands buying Cybertrucks!" But then thought, nah... just drop the deposit and hope for the best :)
I too was in your boat, and kinda surprised at the final price. But it's been a long 5 years of waiting and you've done your saving, and now it's time to reward yourself for the wait. This vehicle is and will be legendary, and you'll have one! Nice living in Alberta too - adding savings. I'm in BC, and not as lucky there. You're wife will get over it once she realizes the engineering marvel that she's riding in.
As for the final out the the door price, I think you see it on the acceptance page, right?
And for accessories, well the sky is the limit I'm sure... and they'll only steadily increase. I'm not messing with the suspension (yet) because too much of the electronics/sensors/etc will depend on the stock setup, so not sure if that's what you were asking about. But plenty of people are doing wraps, and around here those go for $2k to $5k depending. Estimate $2k/yr on "stuff", but who knows!? haha.
And if you still need more motivation to put down the non-refundable deposit, just go read "Die with Zero" LOL. it's a book about getting all you can from your money and your life. (not sure if they have a chapter about wives, but I haven't got there yet).

Interesting data point. A friend of mine that ordered at least a year after launch here in Canada just got the invite to configure. That means there can’t be many people taking up the Foundation Series up here.

Like he put in his reservation in late 2020? and he already got an invite to buy?

Given they are offering Foundation Series in the USA to anyone without a reservation and we have Reservation Numbers here in Canada being serviced at least to orders all the way up until the end of 2021 it's probably just worth holding a quarter.

My guess that they have an end of year push in USA, Canada & Mexico to sell as many Foundation Series as they can before they switch to non-Foundation Series next year (total guess but its trending that way).

I realize that you've waited a while but it would suck if had to eat ~20-30k of depreciation by taking delivery just before 2025. Just my 2c as I've played the Tesla early adopter premium game a few times.

I had a chance to sit in the Cybertruck in Sherway Gardens. I've got a Platinum F150 Lightning that I bought while I waited for my Cybertruck. The interior of the Cybertruck isn't as nice as the Platinum, I'd say it's Lariat level interior. The doors were super heavy which was cool but I also couldn't sit in the rear seats because my head was on the glass roof. It's a cool truck but there's definitely been design compromises so I'd just temper the excitement when you make the call.

I locked my order in for a Cyberbeast in the last quarter but I'm going to rent one over the boarder on Turo before I decide. I came away with a meh feeling after sitting in it at the store and I don't currently think it's worth $160k - this may change when I actually drive it.

Rich Rebuilds covers this station quite well -

Each to their own though! Drive in happiness and good health!!
