Lol - ouch.

I wonder if the $250 hard plastic Underseat Storage Bin that I bought from Tesla last week was also not designed and priced to make money…
That statement is total BS. Everything they do is to make money. That's what businesses do.

Per another CT Owner forum member’s conversation w/ his SC tech, there will be a toolless way to remove the aeroflap and once it's ready, people who bought the tent should be able to get it from their local service center. That would be a major improvement.
Ideally one would have designed it to be able to pivot upward so as to move out of the way without requiring removal of any sort.

Very well articulated review, OP. Thank you for taking the time. The only real miss for me is the aero flap conundrum, which is a real head scratcher. How did this pass the design stage?

Otherwise, I think this is a compelling option for those with the same objectives you outline. Enjoy your awesome truck and cool tent!
Yeah, not including an electric pump for the tent when you have a vehicle with easily accessible outlets in the bed is another head scratcher.

The pump actually makes decent sense - it’s a proprietary Heim planet wide-valve so it’s fairly easy to inflate + super easy to deflate. Def would be cooler to have self inflating + deflating, but I can understand the design choice since that might result in over-inflating/popping the tent structure.

Great review. Quick question. I just got the basecamp/cybertent installed. I tested it in my backyard and screwed up the tail gate legs. So now they are damaged. Is there any way to repair / replace them?

Hrrrm… i would try to log a ticket through the app requesting an SC visit. I suspect that Tesla will just replace the whole thing (which is really dumb) - but would love you to find out otherwise (please let me know!!!)

Tesla refuses to do anything. They don't sell part. They don't offer warranty. Their offer is to buy another tent.
