I already have a very nice 12V compressor (100% duty cycle, 150 psi max, proper quick connects for hoses and wand vs screw on tire attachment, long enough to reach the back wheels of a semi, maybe), link at the bottom. Not cheap!

So I'll likely find myself a 120VAC to 12VDC converter of at least 20 amp capability (higher exists, at least 50 amp); way cheaper than a conveniently portable 120V compressor as good as what I have now. In routine use that might be powered from the center console outlet and be feeding a cigarette lighter socket power strip, for whatever 12V gadgetry I have. I'd probably go direct rather than though the power strip for the compressor, which draws a lot and might blow the fuse built into a power strip. (thinking about it, I'd have to bypass the power strip anyway and use an alternative connector on the converter, because the pump only has battery clips; some converters have multiple taps to which different supplied connectors like a socket or clips can be attached)

Since from prior experience with various vehicles, I plan to get a dash cover, I can route windshield or dash 12V gadget wires under it and attach the power strip somewhere out of the way, so it won't be too much mess of wires. (main gadgets would be lifetime updatable standalone GPS and radar detector; but maybe a phone mount too)

Hi Guys,
Any recommendations on a good air pump for the CT tires (recommended 50 psi) ?

I am noticing 46 when cold and 48 when driving which is probably within acceptable range. But would like to keep one in the car when it gets cold in New England.

Thanks
A
I bought a Harbor freight pancake compressor since I have 120 V in the back of my truck. I just strap it down when I’m on a long trip. I also have a bottle of goop and would not use that stuff unless I absolutely had to. I would pump the tire up and try to make it to a repair shop before using the goop.

I picked up a https://www.lasfit.com/products/dua...vsbgxOrH4JN2H3oYzF_JzYxVVDO2CXvqfyAHPDq39Gs6C but also prefer to keep some tire plug/repair options in the rig too. Initial test I did it ran great and battery was able to get all 4 tires done. Tip: Scan around for a PROMO code for that might save 5-20%.

My prior compressor was tad smaller and this one is faster. I just think the 12V cig plug (which we lack) puts it in a spot where you’d have to run AC and a higher powered AC to 12VDC adaptor to back it up if your 4x4’n and airing down tires.

Wow the portable one is a killer. It’s too good to be true. Does it really work that well? How much battery is left after topping off all four tires? I need something like this for Motorcyle and Bike as well. If it works for big cars, then it’s just amazing! I don’t have to buy multiple inflators. I just gave sold an unused viair pump as it was collecting dust. I need something that’s portable and compact.

Few reviews on Youtube. I mainly was at 47-48 to 50 so that was cake.

You can also back it up with a AC to 12V 180w adaptor too. The Lasfit goes even faster on power vs its battery. I had to get this if I didn’t link it prior for backup.

Since we don’t’ have 12V drops in the truck and the USB-C in the truck is limited to 65w I went with this.

I don’t know what the capacity of the 48V is either so one diff coming from systems where you may of have 50-100Ah 12V batteries or seeing other people looking for taps in the truck I think its safer to just run an adaptor like this. I also couldn’t justify doing what they did here.

I recommend this one.
Milwaukee M18 Inflator 2848-20 https://a.co/d/1p8tyHV

The fastest, most precise mobile tire inflator. I really love the fact that on the top end, let the pressure settle and top it off if necessary.

I have a clip-on extender for quick-release tire inflation. You will not regret it. It can fill the tires of four cars and still have plenty of battery power. If you have the Milwaukee M18 tools, this is a no-brainer..

Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing the details. I’ll check it out!

this bad boy was the best by size, performance, and compatibility reported so far by off-roading members.
The "bad boy" is a little over-kill for filling one tire at a time because Schrader valves can only flow a limited amount of air. So I recommend it be used with a 4 tire inflation hose to fill all tires at once. It takes me about 4 minutes to fill all the AT tires from 35-50 psi. You can fill one tire at a time with it (turn it on 50% speed), but there are lighter solutions if that's all you need it for that will be about the same speed on one tire at a time.
