I already have a very nice 12V compressor (100% duty cycle, 150 psi max, proper quick connects for hoses and wand vs screw on tire attachment, long enough to reach the back wheels of a semi, maybe), link at the bottom. Not cheap!
So I'll likely find myself a 120VAC to 12VDC converter of at least 20 amp capability (higher exists, at least 50 amp); way cheaper than a conveniently portable 120V compressor as good as what I have now. In routine use that might be powered from the center console outlet and be feeding a cigarette lighter socket power strip, for whatever 12V gadgetry I have. I'd probably go direct rather than though the power strip for the compressor, which draws a lot and might blow the fuse built into a power strip. (thinking about it, I'd have to bypass the power strip anyway and use an alternative connector on the converter, because the pump only has battery clips; some converters have multiple taps to which different supplied connectors like a socket or clips can be attached)
Since from prior experience with various vehicles, I plan to get a dash cover, I can route windshield or dash 12V gadget wires under it and attach the power strip somewhere out of the way, so it won't be too much mess of wires. (main gadgets would be lifetime updatable standalone GPS and radar detector; but maybe a phone mount too)
