Here's a long video of Vision Park Assist in action in public parking lots:

Based on this video, it works like complete shit and is pretty much pointless.. not even using the front camera! almost 10 months since delivery day and this is all we have so far??

The heat map is useful for the garage. I already popped the back drywall... this at least gives a warning with sound which is what I have wanted.

Nothing to get excited about here. I've been watching my Cybertruck's bandwidth consumption like hawk for the last 24 hours, anxiously awaiting a large file download beginning.

Then I watched Chuck Cook's demo video, was supremely let down, and realized I could go back to my weekend. Even after this update you pretty much have a Cybertruck that has no Tesla Vision features. I don't understand why Tesla would ship this when it's half-baked and useless in the front of the truck. Chuck's video shows the park assist measurements in the front are about 2 feet off. In other words, your Cybertruck's park assist is going to tell you to "STOP STOP STOP" when you still have 2 feet of clearance in the front of the truck. Chuck's video does show the REAR park assist measurements seem to be pretty accurate. The park assist feature apparently is using the rear bumper camera for rear measurements, but uses the WINDSHIELD camera for front-facing measurements instead of the front bumper camera.

Don't know about everything else here, but I'd rather wait a little longer for a functional update than have something now that doesn't quite work in 50% of parking use-cases.

It clearly needs a lot of work. If you watch the long video in this thread, the position is way off. Hopefully they can get this sorted out soon. I wish they would just license 360 camera view instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

So this is basically the visualization
While its isn't full FSD yet, its the first piece of Tesla Vision finally for us. What is to come in September likely, Auto Park and FSD finally hopefully.

Updated with a demo video in public parking lot:

So this is basically the AI visualization of the autopark feature with the driver doing all the work?

Don't mind not getting this update. Seems pretty worthless in its current form. Estimated distances are off by 18" in the front - needs to be closer to 2" precision to have any value.

So, after parking using Vision park assist, we need to train ourselves to move the truck 18” to 2 ft forward. Just a small learning curve. Cmon guys, this is easy peasy compared to what we’ve been doing till now.

Assuming it is a consistent 18", sure, you could compensate but it doesn't look any better than just using available cameras. The primary blind spot I want this to reliably cover is the front corners since we don't get a good view of those on the cameras. Right now I feel comfortable coming within ~8" of obstacles as I am turning in. This version doesn't give me any confidence to cut it closer. Am still hopeful it will improve once they incorporate the font bumper camera data but it's not useful to me as it stands.

My comment was supposed to be a sarcastic joke but clearly failed
Unless the Vision park assist does it perfectly using the front camera as well, doesn't make sense. I got a pretty good hang of parking with existing cameras and after some time maybe I won't even need those. It's just the rear wheel steering that taking a little bit more time for perfection. The first car I owned with 3D surround camera system was a 2011 BMW X5, amazing how it was done. Tesla is still struggling in that area along with rain sensing wipers. These are the most used features on a day to day basis.

Alright, what I took away from the video is that it is awesome if backing up into a parking spot, but has accuracy issues when driving forward into the parking spot. It looks like some of these issues would go away if the front bumper camera was being utilized.

I think future updates would improve this feature.

I'm genuinely curious: Why would someone want "auto park"? I get way more use out of Vision Park Assist.

It worked fine on my Y. I was initially skeptical after coming from Model 3 with sensors, but it was better once they got it dialed in.
