Tesla is cancelling Foundation Series Cybertruck orders, and forcing people who ordered an FS Cybertruck to take delivery or lose their $1,000 deposit.

In November 2023, Tesla starting taking $1,000 deposits for a Foundation Series Cybertruck.
There are plenty of people that put a $1,000 deposit thinking they would get a non-FS Cybertruck.

Our petition is for TESLA to:

#1 Allow those people, who put a $1,000 deposit, to get put in the line to get a non-FS Cybertruck.
#2 OR convert to another Tesla Model delivery
#3 OR convert to Tesla Cash.
Buy your FS, or lose your $1k deposit. You can't have both.

You paid a non-refundable deposit for either a $100k or $120k configuration.

You don't get to game the system and change your deposit to jump the line for a yet unavailable trim.

There are ZERO examples of Tesla moving $1k FS deposits to yet unavailable future trims. Where are those amended order agreements that another poster referenced?

IF it were true-- that Tesla was cancelling orders AFTER you paid the $1000-- then I would agree with this, but that's not what's happening! The $1000 is for covering the good folks that get your truck to you, that has to be paid even if you refuse your pizza of choice on delivery. If you paid the $1000 you have paid for a specific truck to be sent to your SC of choice. You can change your mind, but you can also pay another $1000. Those are unrecoverable costs, which translates to non-refundable when you're sure it's what you want.

These petition people have probably never run a business ?

Stop b*tching. You signed a deal. Either walk away from your $1k to wait on the 'broke d*ck trim', or pay for your FS order.

I might recommend change this title to strictly about the petition. It borders on a dupe post of that post you have in your video lol

But yea, Tesla could refund but they don't need to. People paid for FS and if they don't get FS, they lose that non refundable deposit. Seems fair to me

My understanding was that it's the people who placed holds before the trucks were ever assigned

Why would you put a deposit on something you don't want?
Because they were hoping to jump the line with their $1,000 for the non-FS, now that they see they cannot, they are out $1,000 or have to spend an extra $20,000 on the truck.

Did a lot of people put $1000 down knowing they were going to defer delivery until foundation series ended in a way to skip the line when they (likely) go back to the beginning of the reservation list for non-FS?

Or did that many people have material life events that prevent them financially or otherwise from taking delivery of the truck they had just ordered?

Got it, set your mind on something... if any evidence counters your viewpoint just call it fake news. You should run for president, I think you have what it takes.
But the evidence is just some reps telling people some stuff. I'm not going to get political with you.

But that's not real evidence. Their orders are still FS orders

The first one. And probably lots of post nut clarity

Tesla had/has a non-refundable deposit for the Model Y when I purchased it, $250. Not documented in the agreement, but internal policy at Tesla allowed for:
  • 1 or 2 courtesy order changes (which I used)
  • Delays in the delivery date (which I used)
  • Refunds in some situations (I ordered 2 Model Ys by accident and they refunded one)
Its not unreasonable for them to extend the same courtesy for Cybertruck buyers. When I called Tesla before I took delivery I was told I could change to non-FS by the rep. I have documented proof of everything I stated here.

I don’t mean to be rude, but honestly, this is like dealing with a child right now. I have a hard time understanding someone who can afford 100,000 on a truck and doesn’t have this basic comprehension of business.

This is NOT evidence, this is cases of people going in and speaking with low level tesla reps who all have different “ opinions “

The equivalent of your example would be you walk into a McDonald’s saying you want that special for the advertise price of $9.99 and a random employee saying they will give it to you for $1.99 .
When you get to the register I tell you you owe $9.99 and you throw a fit saying that some random employee told you that they would sell you the special for $1.99

Obviously it doesn’t matter what Joe blow first day on the job says, the national advertised price is $9.99 . Either you pay up or get out of lie
