From what I have seen at SC, these knuckleheads will install these with gaps.
Im going to wait until they have experience installing on many trucks.

You’ve seen them installed at your SC with gaps or you’re just speculating that they can’t follow service instructions?

Anyone else receive a call to get the lightbar installed?
I have a lightbar install appt scheduled on Oct 3. I was contacted by the SC to schedule it. Note - I added a request to have the lightbar installed after the July email announcement when my CT was in for the recalls. The lightbar was not in stock at that time so they kept that part of my service request open. I believe that’s possibly the reason I was contacted to schedule the lightbar install before others who may not have had that request open.

I really hope there is a way to limit the power and use it as daytime running lights. I might have to put tint on it, I would rarely take mine off road, and even more rare at night. I have a jeep for that.
That's the whole point of him having to connect the power himself. Due to regulatory laws, Tesla can't officially sell the truck with a lightbar fully functioning as it's illegal in certain states. States where it is legal, there are stipulations of only using it on class B or lower roads (ie. No highways/city streets). Looks badass but definitely a bummer our laws are so jank we can't have nice things, haha.

My local Tesla service center (Knoxville TN) is installing their first ever light bar tomorrow.....on my Beast. I'll check back in tomorrow afternoon with pictures and details. They've told me they will do the full install but there is one step they are not allowed to do and informed me I will be responsible for doing that. I'll give more details tomorrow but I suspect it's simply hooking up the power supply on the roof power source.
Be sure to send us some photos!

If the brightness was low enough, then it could be used the same as the daytime running bar that's currently on the CT. I couldn't find any laws limiting the height off the ground daytime running light can be. There are minimums for headlights.

I just picked up my Beast from the two recalls and requested both the Light Bar and Wheel covers. SC said they have no information on either of those and therefore could NOT schedule the work. This is N California (just north of SF)...

Wish it was inside the windshield like the proto.
I suspect that would have been a serious heat problem, since they're quite high power.

Too bad; the right sort of coating could have made it nearly invisible when not in use, which might make states happy that require it to be covered on-road.

Emails went out around the third week of July.

Thank you, I got the Beast on August 20. I configured on May 30. But I’m searching through the history and I still don’t see any email. Is that third week of July for everyone?

I also went to the SC today in Houston and they told me the light bar and the wheel covers get shipped to my home and I have to install it fully.

A little annoying since it’s like some people got an email for those things but I haven’t yet.

I would think it only went to customers who took delivery by that email date, as they are technically the ones missing the parts at the time. My confirg/order was 12/8. Delivery was 5/2. They may do it in phases.

If you're somewhere that a high light bar has to be covered, can you put the blackout tape back on? Or is there some standard blackout tape that one can buy?

Given that the cross-section is a triangle with the long side glued to the windshield, the usual sort of lightbar cover for a rooftop lightbar (rectangular cross section attached at a few points at the base) would not work. Is anyone trying to figure out how to create a cover that would work?

Not using it on-road makes sense. Not having it, or having to cover it, is old thinking, esp. when it only operates in off-road mode, which is too restrictive (top speed, etc) for most on-road driving anyway. But red tape takes forever to change, so I guess it's blackout tape instead?
