Custom Lightshows no longer show up

Just an addition about drives that do work. I've had this laying around for years and set it up based on @CyberRich recommendation in another thread and its working fine.

As far as the broken light show goes. This is what I've found but it sounds like thats about what service said too.

I tried this method and got it to work! Woot! But as you said, only for so long as my truck doesn't go to sleep, then it is back to not working again and I have to repeat the process to get the custom light shows to show up. At least I have some way of doing it now, thank you!

What format does the drive say it is when you formated on MacBook in DOS (exfat, fat32, fat, ntfs)?

So it happened to me again tonight. Literally did a lightshow for a gawker as we were going into dinner. Came out and all were greyed out. Got home and formatted in Fat32, didn’t work, formatted in the DOS, did not work. I thought about what I did during dinner. I launched SENTRY to show my son his phone was safe and the truck was watching. Got home and spent last hour troubleshooting.
Here is what I came up with;
Reformatted in every mode from MacBook and added CLS. Didn’t work.
Rebooted truck and still didn’t show.
thought about showing my son Sentry mode….. turned it completely off and rebooted again.
Now all of my USB drives in all formats work even after sleeping.
It appears to me that it has something to do with Sentry mode doing something. I have had it off until I activated from my phone and poof gone.
Just tested my theory and re activated Sentry and all gone again. Re did what I had done and all back. So, it has something to do with Sentry mode being activated at some point. Leave it off and the files remain. I have not partitioned my drive but no other files were added. Also, going to select input seems to knock it out if the UsB icon pops up. Just my experience so far. Continuing to test and troubleshoot.

I'm at a carshow today and went to play some of my custom light shows (Really wanted to play my HALO ones!) only to find that they don't show up in the drop down list. We took the usb drive out and plugged it into 2 other Teslas, 1 Cybertruck and 1 model Y and it showed up and played in both. Then we brought another usb stick from the model Y owner that has his custom shows on it and plugged it into my Cybertruck and nothing showed up, just the default built in shows like the Arrival, Carol of the Bells and Old Ange Syne. We've rebooted multiple times and still nothing. I'm on the latest .9 release as was the other Cybertruck owner, the only difference between our truck is that his is AWD and mine is a Beast but I have a hard time believing that should be the issue. The dash cam and security cam features of my truck work just fine and the USB sticks show power to them as they have mini led lights that show activity/power. That makes me believe my USB port in the glovebox is working just fine, but that suddenly, for whatever reason, my Cybertruck no longer wants to show custom lightshows from any USB source I plug in to try. Custom light shows showed up as recently as last week and yes, I did add the .9 update a few days ago, but again the other Cybertruck owner was also on the same software version as I am.

For what it’s worth I was having this problem for about a month and all of a sudden my light show showed up. What I realized is my USB was not connecting in the glove box. I literally jiggled it a few times and it showed up. This has happened several times and I messed with the USB and it gets my light shows working.

Ha! My god if that’s the case and I did all this I’m gonna be pissed! lol. It does seem to do it when Sentry is activated. I did it again with same results but used a diff thumb drive for sentry and swapping worked. Turn sentry on with the CSL and gone.
And why in the world is that port so darn hard to get to! My hands to far to swap em easy and I’m not that big a guy! Tomorrow I gonna try a USB C drive in the console and see if it finds it there. My it guy is dialing in partitions for me. CS said it would work off USB C drive in console…. Gonna find out lol.

So your idea to turn off Sentry mode did not work for my CT. I have to reboot to see custom light shows. Then they go away after CT sleeps. I'm on sw 2024.26.11.

This is the same for me, sentry mode or dashcam had no effect. I'm told that it is the really high performance Cyberbeasts that are having this problem because of their overclocked CANBUS ???

Well crap! It has worked for me so far but I’m not hopeful now each time I get in. When it happens to me again I’ll try again. I wonder if Tesla has said anything about this yet.

I had this issue happen again to me after this last update a few days ago. However, like @24Model3 P suggested, all I had to do is to reboot the screen by holding down both scroll wheel buttons, then wait a bit, then all your lightshows will show up again.

My biggest issue is not knowing where to download CT specific lightshows. Most of the ones I have don't utilize the front lightbar of the CT which really sucks.

This works fine. You do have to give it. Minute or two to reinitialize with the usb drive. If you don’t give it enough time you won’t see your light shows.
