And the picture is too dark. It's clear from recent changes (such as haptic buttons ) whoever is working on driver UI and ergos is not a driver and rather just has a desk job. Real drivers need a real rearview.

Someone mentioned Tesla reads these forums. If you're from Tesla and see this please do a software update to make the rearview much bigger and brighter.

Mirrors aren’t very helpful with the tonneau closed.

What Tesla ought to do in my opinion is have a rear camera in a much better location that isn’t easily blocked by hitch mounted items and that has a self cleaning system for dirt and mud that feeds to a proper separate rear view “mirror” display in the location where the useless actual mirror is located. Doesn’t matter if you buy the mirror oem with the CT/CB or buy it at home depot, it’s useless in the cabin when the vehicle is primarly meant to be driven with the tonneau cover closed. The solution to have it hog all the screen real estate from a camera mounted in a location blocked by anything you put on a hitch with no system to clean it when you drive through puddles (on a TRUCK) is laughably awful.

It is crazy to me that this vehicle has so many amazing innovations and for basic visiblity it was clearly a total afterthought as if it wasn’t important to be able to see.

My two cents. FWIW.

Cheers

Yeah I personally don't care about the mirror.... I'll remove mine.

Here is my solution to that, not perfect. But way better than Teslas solution.

I agree on making the video show bigger and brighter. I’ll often lean and check my side view mirror to actually understand how far someone is behind me and gauge their speed before lane change.

Real drivers need a real rearview.
Pro Tip:
you can customize the buttons on the bottom of the screen, press and hold, drag the camera button down. This locks in your favorite choices vs recently used.

after you press this camera button, you can see the front view camera, prolly not what you want. Simply swipe the truck up and it switches to a full size rear view along with both left & right rear views, and it stays up until you reverse and exit back to drive / park.

the rear view camera view is much bigger when you drag it to the top of the screen. That left side view is worthless.

I guarantee future models will have the rear view camera in the rear view mirror. It's a no brainer and was a HUGE miss from Tesla IMO! For as much technology that has gone into the CT, that miss just makes me shake my head.

With that said, I have zero issues with the on screen view. I would agree it would be nice to make it bigger if you so choose. That should be a relatively easy SW update. Do it Tesla!

Right swipe the menu you have up (on right side of screen) hen you are driving. That menu shouldn't be displayed if you were really concerned with the mirror. That will place the rearview camera to the top center of the screen.
You can also hit the camera icon and switch the entire right side of the screen to display the side mirror view and rear view camera.
