I have 575 miles on my Cyberbeast. It was the first delivered (8/19/24) in Raleigh SC that they had seen that had the new wheel covers installed for delivery.

I removed them today to adjust my AT tire pressure for colder weather. I was surprised to see that they also are rubbing the surface of the tires. The picture shows what has happened so far with just 575 miles on my truck.

Updated with more info:

Interesting. Is on all four tires? What was the tire pressure prior to adding air?
Tire pressure was 47 on two tires, 48 on two others before adding air to bring it up to 50 on all tires. The wear was present on right front tire. The others seem to be ok, so it may be that some of the covers are defective. I have done no launches or even put it in beast mode and have done around town driving and one trip to a cabin I have on a forest service road. Tire pressures have never been low on any tires.

Yeah I’d rather just a credit. Doesn’t even need to be a huge one. They’re going to spend a shit load more redesigning this again, shipping new ones, and having tire warranty claims. I’m good with the regular wheels

I would let them off the hook with store credit if they agreed to convert my 1 time use $2500 voucher to store credit and add another $300 for the wheel covers.

No I have not contacted Tesla about this other than at delivery I saw that some covers were not installed tightly and had them check for secure installation before I took delivery. I will bring this up when I do go back sometime to have my tailgate adjusted since one side needs to have the restraining strap tightened to support weight on that side of the tailgate. I am just going to leave the covers off for now until I have more confidence that they are ok.

Did you mean NC? I haven't had an up close look on the redesign, but do you believe if the rubber tab was cut down about another half an inch it would alleviate contact with the tire to include turns? I ask because i assume the front tires turn more than the rears.

I do wonder if a bit of super thin PTFE tape on the back of the spokes might help reduce the abrasion?

Wait are we solving the problem or Tesla?;)

Lesson for some maybe business 200 level questions. At what point will your customers tell you to go somewhere where the words yourself are precluded by some other words.

Or do you say tough crap. Ya want it? Buy it. No covers.

I remember a day when we laughed at hubcaps. That is really what they are.

Hubcap drama.

Yes you are right, I meant Raleigh NC where I took delivery. SC was shorthand for service center.
