Because a fixed percentage just makes more sense. If you are in a 10 mph zone, and 10% increase puts you at 11 mph rather than doubling it to 20.What do you mean by its current state? It is always going to get better with each update. But some controls are not well thought out. Why do you have a percentage over a speed limit? Why can’t I just say go 10 over ?‍![]()
Speed ? Fsd is about safety. Added velocity over the posted limit is contrary to its goal.First off I really want FSD to succeed and I know it will get there in the future. But right now I’d give it a C. A couple small things would give it major improvements:
- go the damn speed that the driver wants. I’m on a non busy highway where the speed limit is 75. I have the speed set to 85 and it only drives at 79. This is on a flat road.
- start planning earlier! FSD loves to wait until the last second before it’s like “oh crap, I have to get over to make a turn”. Often times it misses.
- have just a lane keeping function so you can tow on the highway. This isn’t even FSD.
FSD on the Model Y has gotten better so I can’t wait for the Cybertruck to improve.

The basic difference is that CT uses E2E for freeway as well and Y (still) doesn't.

I don't see that much difference between my 3 and the CT.
ps : EVen in earlier versions 3/Y always worked better than S/X. I think Tesla doesn't train much for the bigger vehicles - so that probably applies to CT as well. This showed up in cases like driving on narrow streets.

I think the better solution is based on a transition speed, say 60. Under 60 it adds 5mph and over 60 it adds 10mph. But I think the key is for FSD to actually drive the speed it is set for. Is the speed limit is 65 and the max you set it for is 75 then FSD should go 75!
