I cannot seem to find this exact answer anywhere. It's my first Tesla but not my first EV. Every other vehicle I've had with this feature, it was an always-on feature that did not depend on TACC or Self-Driving being enabled. Is it supposed to be there? Not available yet? Thanks!

The warning is a selectable option.
You can have it enabled to alert all the time.
Note: It's not great at determining lanes on narrower dirt roads...

Yes I’ve driven with that toggled both on and off, on normally city roads and on the highway. It alters but does not aid, correct?

I probably didn’t ask it clearly, does it actually aid (yet, or ever will since I’ve never owned a Tesla) on the CT?

ie on a 2015 Genesis I had, lane keeping was just always on 24:7 every single drive. Nothing else needed to be engaged, no adaptive cruise control needed to be on. Speed didn’t matter whether 5mph or 70mph. Same thing on a 24 F-150.

Do Teslas not do the same? Everyone seems to answer the question that it does when AP or FSD are on. But does it really not attempt to keep you in the lane (actively, steering, not just an alert tone)?

Right, no active lane assist option at this point, just audible alert when it thinks you're drifting.

Thanks! Do all other current models (because I know they’ve removed a lot of little things and all the sonic sensors) have active lane assist and keeping? I would hope it’s coming. Loved FSD so far. It’s not perfect but I’m happy to have it.

Lastly, Joe Mode, does that affect the sound of this lane keeping alert? It’s way too loud. I’m not sure if that’s exterior only, interior only or both.

Joe mode should drop the sound for all alarms. I agree the lane assist is Loud! Not tried with Joe mode on.
I turned off lane assist because it kept screaming on some narrow roads in Boston.

Having just done a 30 min drive on winding roads with Joe mode on and off and on and off several times…I did not perceive a difference as far the lane assist screech. If there is one, it’s not noticeable with everyday conversation or music and road noises going on. Just as loud and abrasive.

Im a little confused on the question or what you’re hoping to have as an option reading through the posts.

If the question is do other models have always on lane keep wherein the car pings you back into your lane without AP or FSD on then the answer is yes. My Tesla Model S without auto pilot or full self driving activated will have active lane keep always on.

That was the question yes. And since the answer is yes, then I’d hope that will come the CT as well. As of now, there’s FSD but no active lane keeping with out being in AP or FSD. It definitely seems a little backwards, but I guess they really wanted to get FSD out, and I can appreciate that.

We just were also having a tangential conversation about the alert volume.

That is interesting. So when AP isn’t engaged your CT if it starts drifting out of its lane will just allow it to happen? That does seem unsafe by modern standards and I assume would be a future OTA update.

If you are driving the car, shouldn't you the driver be keeping it in the lane? Unsafe is expecting the car to do everything and the driver to have no liability.

About as dumb of a post as the political ads on TV. Congrats.

Yes exactly, that's what I've been saying. And I know it's hard to communicate because most people right now are focused on the FSD release. But the regular everyday Lane Keeping would be a huge plus for every driver out there.

This is the hill you want to stand on? Against a safety feature? I'd encourage everyone to just avoid responding to nonsense like this.
