Screen glitching and unresponsive - what to do

Screen is glitching and unresponsive. With great pain, I can get the truck to shutdown, but issue remains after rebooting.
I can still drive the truck, but considering the errors flashing on the screen I’m not sure that’s safe.
I tried submitting a roadside request, but they said since the truck is still drivable then wouldn’t pick it up. They said to put in a service request. Earliest service appointment in Austin is December and the issue isn’t eligible for mobile service.
What should I do?
- Submit another roadside request saying the truck isn’t safe to drive given the error messages.
- Wait until December
- Bring the Truck to the service center without an appointment

Thanks! I got into the service menu. It shows that there are 3-7 altered to check (number keeps changing). When I try to check the alerts it says “Error: Failed to load alerts”. In the main screen it says “Low Disk Space
Free Space to Restore Functionality”. Is there a way to free disk space?

Hello, there is a way via Toolbox and I might be able to do it remotely. However, if it's just browser data that's holding you up you can do that from the regular service tab.

There is a routine that can be run in toolbox that will report data storage. If the browser clear doesn't work, then my offer to remote in and analyze still stands.

I own an independent service center and we work on Teslas. Toolbox subscriptions however are available to anyone who pays for it.

Thanks again, I ended up getting Tesla to tow the truck to their service center. I'll post updates as I get them.

Definitely update your ticket to include the errors! If it can't tell you errors, it may not be safe to drive, and you need to be clear when you makemthe request.

Tesla finished fixing my truck.

Here's their repair notes:

Concern: Touchscreen not functioning

Repair Notes: Verified customers concern vehicle screen in and out communication causing vehicle alerts. Genera diag finds flex cable communication harness kinked causing intermittent alerts between electronic control units. Car computer also found internally causing communication issues causing screen to torn on and off intermittently. Performed car computer replacement and Flex cable harness along with guide install. Firmware vehicle PASS and test drive finds vehicle operating as designed.

HARNESS-MID VOLTAGE BACKBONE(1682221- 00-G)
FUSED - CAR COMPUTER(1780685- S0-G)
BACKBONE BRACKET - FRONT UNDER BODY - BACKBONE HARNESS(2044121-00- A)

dam! Just a kinked cable? Guess that happened during manufacturing...And it is odd that there is only one truck with the issue. I think someone was texting while installing the cable... ;)

Wow! That was quick! Just be glad you don't own a Rivian, many of those poor folks are having a devil of a time when they need an emergency repair.

Hmm... this might explain the flex cable rerouting that Tesla added to my last service visit a few weeks ago. Maybe it's a common enough problem that Tesla is fixing proactively when the trucks come in for service?

Yes it did. But, they managed to do something to my glove box so it no longer opens up lol.
