Not watching, but duh is probably my response.

FSD is not expected to miss everything in the road at this point. That's why it is still supervised.

Everything that it probably hit in the video is the fault of the driver.

How could you know that without watching the video?
Let's see, the title picture and simply the words "uh oh"?

Or did the vehicle miss all the obstacles?

I don't click on sensationism, I don't want to pay for it. I want to get rid of it.

A collapsed cardboard box? ROTFLAMO, if this video was from you, I really hope that you had an accident dodging the collapsed cardboard box.

It's a good thing that people are doing these tests to show edge cases, and follow through when they get fixed.

Seems like he didn't really sensationalize anything, which is refreshing.

This guy has been nothing but a Tesla fan boy for years. He got early access to FSD and has made his channel completely off of that. He was one of the first people to have a Cybertruck.

The freakish Stepford-wife mentality around here is weird

The software ought to be able to avoid a nearly 4 foot tall obstacle directly in the middle of the roadway whether it’s made of cardboard, tree or human flesh.

Nothing was unfair or sensationalized about the test.

I'm sorry you have unrealistic expectations. Even the Owner's Manual clearly states that it is designed to reduce the severity of impacts, not avoid objects completely. Human supervision is required at all times.

Of course, it requires human supervision. It’s FSD (supervised). ?

[As a quick reminder, I’ve been on FSD since it came out in beta in October of ‘21. I still frequently get updates before the guys on YouTube.]

The driver is legally and morally responsible. That’s why, DirtyTesla, one of Tesla’s biggest fans of all time (a guy who spends a significant part of his life producing videos expressing his love and awe for Tesla), used inanimate objects that wouldn’t do too much damage to his vehicle if the software failed.

You understand that, right? You understand that Tesla internally tests the vehicles capabilities of avoiding obstacles, right? Do you think it’s a bad thing to know, EXACTLY, what it can and can’t do?

I’m sorry that you can’t separate the fact that the driver remains responsible, from the totally sane and normal desire to know the boundaries of the current state of development.

If the software (which is designed to give the driver on-screen visual cues about what FSD is seeing) shows you that it sees the obstacle and then decides to plow right into it - that isn’t helpful for the supervisor!

That’s what DT has shown and explained here. In one instance, he showed (as many of us have suspected) - that FSD doesn’t have a good sense of how wide the Cybertruck is, because, it tried to avoid the obstacle but still managed to clip it - just barely. Perfectly useful information to have.

But, you’re the dude who suggested that Sandy Monroe was an incompetent cuck because he even hinted at a criticism of what appears to be your whole world. ❤‍?? So, I’m not expecting any critical discernment from you.

You’re just following your programming, which seems to be to mindlessly object to even the slightest legitimate criticism of this company. If FSD was as consistent as you are, we’d be at level 5 already.

Carry on.

@dalton108 pretty much nailed it. I dont have a lot to add other than, if you use FSD regularly this video is useful to let you know when you need to intervein. If there is any debris on the road there is a very high likelihood FSD will not avoid it.

Looking forward to similar videos in 1 or 2 years to see how it changes.

Dirty Tesla is a tool. He lives on a dirt road. Nothing more. Doesn't do anything a suburban want to be Dad couldn't do. I was at his gathering in Clarkston Mi. He had all the fans circle doing ya know. I wanted to say wipe the chin dude. A few of us went over and went off roading while he showed off his dirty truck. I let 5 or 6 randos just drive mine.

Many see much on youtube. Then meet the people they are often nothings. As in nothing special.

I'm saying exactly the opposite of what you're claiming, that it's not good enough to completely avoid impacts, it's only designed to reduce their severity. That's why it requires a driver to take over.

Why do you think I was saying FSD is so consistent that it's basically at Level 5? I said the opposite. You just made that up out of thin air.

You are so blinded by who you think someone is, that you can't even hear what they actually said.

I do not think you were saying we’re at level 5. Nor did I do anything that would imply any such thing.

Every other word of this rant of yours applies only to you. You may read word for word what I said to you again at your leisure, slowly. Please read it from your block-quote so that you don’t think that I went back and changed it.

Hint: It isn’t what you think.

As you’ve explained thoroughly (without knowing it) through the art of projection - you are going off half-cocked based on your perception of who is speaking rather than what they’ve actually said. ?

I use words for a living, I’m generally pretty precise with them.
